Article The Effect of 3d Modeling on Family Quality of Life, Surgical Success, and Patient Outcomes in Congenital Heart Diseases: Objectives and Design of a Randomized Controlled Trial(Turkish J Pediatrics, 2024) Sumengen, Aylin Akca; Ismailoglu, Abdul Veli; Ismailoglu, Pelin; Gumus, Terman; Celiker, Alpay; Namlisesli, Deniz; Cakir, Gokce NazBackground. Understanding the severity of the disease from the parents' perspective can lead to better patient outcomes, improving both the child's health -related quality of life and the family's quality of life. The implementation of 3 -dimensional (3D) modeling technology in care is critical from a translational science perspective. Aim. The experimental group will receive surgical simulation and preoperative parent education with their 3D heart model. The control group will receive the same parent education using the standard anatomical model. Both groups will complete the Sociodemographic Information Form, the Surgical Simulation Evaluation Form - Part I -II, and the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) Family Impacts Module. The primary outcome of the research is the average PedsQL Family Impacts Module score. Secondary outcome measurement includes surgical success and patient outcomes. Separate analyses will be conducted for each outcome and compared between the intervention and control groups. Conclusions. Anomalies that can be clearly understood by parents according to the actual size and dimensions of the child's heart will affect the preoperative preparation of the surgical procedure and the recovery rate in the postoperative period.Article The Effect of Vitamin D and Paricalcitol on Protein Disulfide Isomerase(Marmara University, 2025) Koksal, Murat; Şekerler, Turgut; Şener, Azize; Temel Eczacılık Bilimleri BölümüProtein disulfide isomerase (PDI), a multifunctional protein plays an important role as oxidoreductase, isomerase and chaperone in the cell. Prior studies have identified PDI is highly expressed in many different cancer types and presented as a new potential target for cancer treatment. Here, we investigated vitamin D and its analogue paricalcitol in silico interaction of the human PDI and inhibition of PDI reductase activity in vitro. We observed a non-covalent mechanism where the main skeleton of the vitamin D3 ans paricalcitol sturcture is located at the hydrophobic site in the b' domain of PDI and forms a hydrogen bond with a residue (His138) in tihs domain. They also form multiple weak hydrophobic interactions with various chemical groups of the b' subunit. For the first time, we demonstrate that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1a,25(OH)2 vitamin D3) and paricalcitol inhibit the PDI reductase activity in vitro and their IC50 values are 20.79±1.43 nmol/L and 32.83±3.15 nmol/L respectively. The two compounds can also block the denistrosation activity of PDI.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 4Evaluation of Psychosocial Outcomes of Living Liver Donors in Liver Transplantation(Aves, 2022) Ordin, Yaprak Sarigol; Seren, Arzu Kader Harmanci; Karayurt, Ozgul; Kul, Gulay Aksu; Kilic, Murat; Bozoklar, Cemal Ata; Tokat, Yaman; Hemşirelik BölümüBackground: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the risk factors affecting psychosocial outcomes of living liver donors after liver transplantations. In this context, the most active role of consumers is to prefer quality products that can last for many years and to extend the time of the products remaining in use, especially through the purchase and sale of second-hand clothes. While current papers provide roadmaps based on conceptual details, and consumer perception and attitude, there is no comprehensive study in second-hand shopping practices specific to clothing. Hence, the aim of this study is proposing an integrated methodology to understand the criteria that consumers pay attention in second-hand clothes shopping platforms as a tool that makes sustainable fashion possible via literature review, individual interviews and text mining, to determine the weights of these criteria according to their importance via Step-Wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) methodology, and to compare the prominent platform alternatives via Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment (WASPAS) technique. The criteria weights vary depending on the sustainability awareness of consumers, and on the generation gap.Article Lactobacillus Rhamnosus GG Alleviates Bisphenol-A Induced Oxidative Stress in Serum(Marmara University, Faculty of Pharmacy, 2025) Şener, Göksel; Tunali-Akbay, Tugba; Dorucu, Dogancan; Ede-Pazarbasi, Seren; Dede, Pınar; Eczacılık Meslek Bilimleri Bölümü; Eczane Hizmetleri BölümüThe objective of this investigation was to identify changes in the serum oxidant-antioxidant balance of rats exposed to bisphenol A (BPA) and to investigate the impact of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) administration on those changes. Twenty-four rats (Wistar Albino, 250-300 grams, male) were divided into control, BPA, and BPA+LGG groups with an equal number of rats. BPA and LGG were applied to the rats in the relevant groups for six weeks, five days each week. Six weeks later, the blood samples were withdrawn and serum samples were prepared. Total oxidant and antioxidant status (TAS), glutathione, and lipid peroxidation determinations were determined in serum samples, and the oxidative stress index was calculated. BPA exposure decreased serum total antioxidant status and increased serum total oxidative status, oxidative stress index, and lipid peroxidation level compared to the control group. LGG administration improved the increased serum oxidative stress caused by BPA. Administration of LGG to BPA-treated rats reversed oxidative stress-induced changes. In conclusion, administration of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG to rats for 30 consecutive days prevented oxidative stress in serum caused by bisphenol A.Article Mekanik Boyun Ağrılı Bireylerde Alt Ekstremite Posterior Plan Kaslarına Foam Roller İle Uygulanan Miyofasyal Gevşetme Tekniğinin Akut Etkisi(2021) Alkan, Mirsad; Besen, Kardelen; Coşkunsu, Dilber Karagözoğlu; Güler, Dilara; Fizyoterapi Ve Rehabilitasyon BölümüAmaç: Myers tarafından tanımlanan fasyal\rzincirlerden biri olan Süperfisyal arka zincir\r(SAZ) ayak parmaklarından başlayıp supraorbital\rçıkıntıya kadar uzanan fasyal bir\rbanttır. After the administrations, lung, heart and kidney tissues were examined by histopathological, immunohistochemical and TUNEL analysis. Results: Our results showed that the vaccine doses decreased the apoptosis, oxidative stress and inflammation parameters caused by virus in lung, heart, and kidney tissues. It was also found that the vaccine protected the expressions of tight junction proteins in the kidneys. Conclusion: According to our findings, it is suggested that the OZG-38.61.3 can be an effective and protective vaccine that can be safely used against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 2Preparation and Application of Caffeic Acid Imprinted Polymer(Tubitak Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2023) Ersoy, Seyda K. A. R. A. M. A. N.; Tutem, Esma; Baskan, Kevser SoeZGEN; Apak, Resat; Temel Eczacılık Bilimleri BölümüIn the present study, molecularly imprinted polymers were synthesized using caffeic acid (CA) as a template molecule and then used for the extraction of CA and chlorogenic acid (CLA) from complex matrices. Syntheses were carried out in tetrahydrofuran as porogenic solvent using 4-vinyl pyridine, methacrylic acid, acrylamide, and 1-vinyl imidazole as monomers, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as crosslinker and 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile as initiator. In polymerization processes, different ratios of the template:monomer:crosslinker (T:M:CrL) were used to obtain the most suitable polymer. Caffeic acid:4-vinylpiridine:ethylene glycol dimethacrylate's 1:4:16 mole ratio of MIP was determined as the most convenient polymer for CA recognition. In addition, nonimprinted polymers (NIPs) without templates were prepared. Dynamic and static adsorption tests were applied to determine the absorption features of the NIPs and CA-MIPs. Separation and purification studies of CA and CLA were performed with molecular imprinted solid phase extraction (MISPE) application. All steps of MISPE (loading, washing, elution) were optimized by HPLC analysis.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 4Qualitative and Artificial Intelligence-Based Sentiment Analysis of Turkish Tweets Related To Schizophrenia(Turkiye Sinir ve Ruh Sagligi dernegi, 2023) Dikec, Gul; Oban, Volkan; Usta, Mirac Baris; Hemşirelik BölümüObjective: The aim of this study was to qualitatively examine Turkish tweets about schizophrenia in respect of stigmatization and discrimination within a one-month period and to conduct emotional analysis using artificial intelligence applications. Method: Using the keyword 'schizophrenia,' Turkish tweets were gathered from the Python Tweepy application between December 19, 2020 and January 18, 2021. Features were extracted using the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) method and artificial neural networks and tweets were classified as positive, neutral, or negative. Approximately 5% of the tweets were qualitatively analyzed, constituting those most frequently liked and retweeted. Results: The study found that, of the total of 3406 schizophrenia-related messages shared in Turkey over a period of one-month, 2996 were original, and were then retweeted a total of 1823 times, and liked by 25,413 people. It was determined that 63.4% of the tweets shared about schizophrenia contained negative emotions, 28.7% were neutral, and 7.71% expressed positive emotions. Within the scope of the qualitative analysis, 145 tweets were examined and classified under four main themes and two sub-themes; namely, news about violent patients, insult (insulting people in interpersonal relationships, insulting people in the news), mockery, and information. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the Turkish tweets about schizophrenia, which were emotionally analyzed using artificial intelligence were found often to contain negative emotions. It was also seen that Twitter users used the term schizophrenia, not in a medical sense but to insult and make fun of individuals, frequently shared the news that patients were victims or perpetrators of violence, and the messages shared by professional branch organizations or mental health professionals were primarily for conveying information to the public.Article Citation - WoS: 8Citation - Scopus: 6RELATIONSHIP OF DAILY TIME SPENT OUTDOORS WITH SLEEP QUALITY AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING AMONG COMMUNITY-DWELLING OLDER ADULTS DURING COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS(Gunes Kitabevi Ltd Sti, 2021) Sansal, Kenan Eren; Balci, Leyla Atas; Cinar, Fadime; Coskunsu, Dilber Karagozoglu; Tanriover, Sezin Hatice; Uluengin, Mehmet Bengu; Fizyoterapi Ve Rehabilitasyon BölümüIntroduction: Given the recent constraints imposed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of the daily light-dark cycle for entraining the human circadian system, it is possible to state that the elderly are likely to be at serious risk of experiencing sleep-related problems. Whilst reduced or limited time outdoors, and thus, exposure to diurnal bright light appear to be detrimental to sleep and emotional well-being in old age, further research is required to confirm this relationship. Materials and Method: To build on earlier work, a two-week study was conducted in a sample of 79 community-dwelling older adults recruited by using snowball sampling method. Throughout the study, the participants were allowed to be outdoors from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on weekdays. Whilst the participants were performing their daily habitual activities, they were asked to keep an activity diary and report on their sleep quality and emotional wellbeing using two questionnaires. Results: The results demonstrated that participants' daily time spent outdoors (49.13 minutes on average) positively correlated with their perceived sleep quality and emotional well-being at various - but significant - levels (p<0.05). Moreover, significant negative correlations were identified between participants' sleep quality and experienced emotional disturbances (p<0.001). Conclusion: Based on the research findings, it is reasonable to conclude that spending momentary periods outdoors may have adverse consequences for the elderly. To maintain a healthy sleep-wake cycle and alleviate related emotional problems in old age, increasing outdoor time and diurnal bright light exposure should be encouraged.Conference Object Safe Drug Administration in Pediatric Nursing Education: A Quasi-Experimental Design Study(Ataturk Univ, 2023) Onturk, Zehra Kan; Sanci, Yagmur; Hemşirelik BölümüObjective: This study was carried out to determine the correlation between the performance of students who received simulation-based pediatric nursing education and their self-confidence regarding safe drug administrations during simulation. Methods: The study was conducted in pretest and posttest quasi-experimental design and carried out on a sample group (n =39) based on criteria established at the Nursing Department of a foundation university.
