Therefore, it is possible to identify some of the central nervous diseases when somatosensory on the fingertip is stimulated and responses are recorded and analyzed. We designed a system to stimulate the mechanoreceptors on fingertips. It is composed of a mechanical system for fingertip stimulation, an embedded controller, a control computer, and a software to control overall operation. During test, mechanoreceptors are stimulated according to the test protocols. Individuals' answers are recorded to be evaluated by the developed software. In this study, several design approaches for embedded controller were also examined and an FPGA based controller with the same functionality but higher performance was implemented. A test procedure was performed on 51 individuals at the department of pediatric psychiatry in a hospital, to investigate whether the sex has an effect on attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder.Article Citation - WoS: 0Citation - Scopus: 0Determining the Effect of Urbanization on the Vegetation of Gurun District (sivas) Based on Biotope Mapping and Vegetation Analysis(Istanbul Univ-cerrahapasa, 2020) Bozkurt, Selvinaz Gülçin; Akkemik, Unal; Kose, NesibeUrbanization is one of the strongest negative effects on vegetational change within and around a city. In this study, it is aimed to determine the flora and vegetational changes within and around the city based on the identification and mapping of the biotopes which show differences in terms of ecologic factors met in Gurun district center and its vicinity and which are suitable for Corine biotope classification. First, 13 main biotope types are classified. In the biotopes, total 666 plant taxa were identified, 84 of which were endemic. Vegetation of the biotopes was determined, and then similarity levels of main biotopes are calculated according to the similarity coefficient method of Sorensen. Accordingly, while the similar areas are health facilities and agricultural areas the most different ones are parks and sports areas and drainage areas. The results emphasize the similarity levels of vegetation in biotopes and the negative effect of human intervention in the study area. As a result, with its rich natural structure, vegetation covers and endemism rate, the district of Gurun has significant natural biotopes and it is suggested that biotope classification should be considered in determining vegetation change and urban planning.Article Citation - WoS: 0Citation - Scopus: 0The Effect of 3d Modeling on Family Quality of Life, Surgical Success, and Patient Outcomes in Congenital Heart Diseases: Objectives and Design of a Randomized Controlled Trial(Turkish J Pediatrics, 2024) Sumengen, Aylin Akca; Ismailoglu, Abdul Veli; Ismailoglu, Pelin; Gumus, Terman; Celiker, Alpay; Namlisesli, Deniz; Cakir, Gokce NazBackground. Understanding the severity of the disease from the parents' perspective can lead to better patient outcomes, improving both the child's health -related quality of life and the family's quality of life. The implementation of 3 -dimensional (3D) modeling technology in care is critical from a translational science perspective. Aim. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of 3D modeling on family quality of life, surgical success, and patient outcomes in congenital heart diseases. Additionally, we aim to identify challenges and potential solutions related to this innovative technology. Methods. The study is a two -group pretest -posttest randomized controlled trial protocol. The sample size is 15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group. The experimental group's heart models will be made from their own computed tomography (CT) images and printed using a 3D printer. The experimental group will receive surgical simulation and preoperative parent education with their 3D heart model. The control group will receive the same parent education using the standard anatomical model. Both groups will complete the Sociodemographic Information Form, the Surgical Simulation Evaluation Form - Part I -II, and the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) Family Impacts Module. The primary outcome of the research is the average PedsQL Family Impacts Module score. Secondary outcome measurement includes surgical success and patient outcomes. Separate analyses will be conducted for each outcome and compared between the intervention and control groups. Conclusions. Anomalies that can be clearly understood by parents according to the actual size and dimensions of the child's heart will affect the preoperative preparation of the surgical procedure and the recovery rate in the postoperative period.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 4Evaluation of Psychosocial Outcomes of Living Liver Donors in Liver Transplantation(Aves, 2022) Harmancı Seren, Arzu Kader; Seren, Arzu Kader Harmanci; Karayurt, Ozgul; Kul, Gulay Aksu; Kilic, Murat; Bozoklar, Cemal Ata; Tokat, Yaman; Hemşirelik BölümüBackground: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the risk factors affecting psychosocial outcomes of living liver donors after liver transplantations. Methods: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of living liver donors followed by 2 liver transplantation centers in 2 private hospitals in 2 different provinces, between August 2017 and October 2019. All the living liver donors were contacted without a time frame after donation and all the participants were evaluated once. The developing technology, population growth, and immigration are factors which expose the city of Istanbul to intense construction. Consequently, the gardens in the houses located at the center of Istanbul are decreasing day by day, limiting outdoor activities for the residents, and affecting them physically and mentally. In this study, a questionnaire was applied to 400 people in Istanbul's European side to investigate the extent to which residential gardens affect human well-being. These questionnaires were applied according to five-point Likert scales and the results were analyzed in the SPSS program by applying correlation analysis. The data obtained from the applied questionnaires were analyzed in the SPSS program. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that residential gardens have a positive influence on the physical and psychological development of people, and also contribute to the protection of nature and biological diversity. Statistically, it has been determined that people mostly use their gardens in the summer months (49.30%) and on the weekends, and spend an average of 0-2 hours (57.50%) in their gardens. In addition, these analyses were associated with participant characteristics such as age (18-25, 26-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 60 and older), gender (female/male), socioeconomic status (occupation and income) and social demography (change in population). As a result, this study showed that residential gardens in urban areas contribute significantly to people and nature, that more garden areas should be added to the residences to be built in urban areas, and that these areas should be designed in a functional and sustainable way for people to benefit from nature in the best way.Article Citation - WoS: 5Citation - Scopus: 6An Integrated Methodology Proposal for Sustainable Fashion: Understanding and Examining Criteria Affecting the Second-Hand Clothes Shopping(Gazi Univ, Fac Engineering Architecture, 2022) Usta, Saliha Karadayı; Kadaifci, Cigdem; Endüstri Mühendisliği BölümüSustainable fashion is an important movement that offers numerous benefits in the long run by questioning the actual needs of the consumer, selecting the natural fabrics, preferring the brands providing ethical working conditions for the employees, using the acquired clothes as long as possible, repairing when necessary, and recycling into yarn when the lifetime is over, or transforming into a new product by changing the function of the items. In this context, the most active role of consumers is to prefer quality products that can last for many years and to extend the time of the products remaining in use, especially through the purchase and sale of second-hand clothes. While current papers provide roadmaps based on conceptual details, and consumer perception and attitude, there is no comprehensive study in second-hand shopping practices specific to clothing. Hence, the aim of this study is proposing an integrated methodology to understand the criteria that consumers pay attention in second-hand clothes shopping platforms as a tool that makes sustainable fashion possible via literature review, individual interviews and text mining, to determine the weights of these criteria according to their importance via Step-Wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) methodology, and to compare the prominent platform alternatives via Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment (WASPAS) technique. The criteria weights vary depending on the sustainability awareness of consumers, and on the generation gap.Article Mekanik Boyun Ağrılı Bireylerde Alt Ekstremite Posterior Plan Kaslarına Foam Roller İle Uygulanan Miyofasyal Gevşetme Tekniğinin Akut Etkisi(2021) Alkan, Mirsad; Besen, Kardelen; Coşkunsu, Dilber Karagözoğlu; Güler, DilaraAmaç: Myers tarafından tanımlanan fasyal\rzincirlerden biri olan Süperfisyal arka zincir\r(SAZ) ayak parmaklarından başlayıp supraorbital\rçıkıntıya kadar uzanan fasyal bir\rbanttır. Syntheses were carried out in tetrahydrofuran as porogenic solvent using 4-vinyl pyridine, methacrylic acid, acrylamide, and 1-vinyl imidazole as monomers, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as crosslinker and 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile as initiator. In polymerization processes, different ratios of the template:monomer:crosslinker (T:M:CrL) were used to obtain the most suitable polymer. Caffeic acid:4-vinylpiridine:ethylene glycol dimethacrylate's 1:4:16 mole ratio of MIP was determined as the most convenient polymer for CA recognition. In addition, nonimprinted polymers (NIPs) without templates were prepared. Dynamic and static adsorption tests were applied to determine the absorption features of the NIPs and CA-MIPs. Separation and purification studies of CA and CLA were performed with molecular imprinted solid phase extraction (MISPE) application. All steps of MISPE (loading, washing, elution) were optimized by HPLC analysis.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 4Qualitative and Artificial Intelligence-Based Sentiment Analysis of Turkish Tweets Related To Schizophrenia(Turkiye Sinir ve Ruh Sagligi dernegi, 2023) Dikeç, Gül; Oban, Volkan; Usta, Mirac Baris; Hemşirelik BölümüObjective: The aim of this study was to qualitatively examine Turkish tweets about schizophrenia in respect of stigmatization and discrimination within a one-month period and to conduct emotional analysis using artificial intelligence applications. Method: Using the keyword 'schizophrenia,' Turkish tweets were gathered from the Python Tweepy application between December 19, 2020 and January 18, 2021. Features were extracted using the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) method and artificial neural networks and tweets were classified as positive, neutral, or negative. Approximately 5% of the tweets were qualitatively analyzed, constituting those most frequently liked and retweeted. Results: The study found that, of the total of 3406 schizophrenia-related messages shared in Turkey over a period of one-month, 2996 were original, and were then retweeted a total of 1823 times, and liked by 25,413 people. It was determined that 63.4% of the tweets shared about schizophrenia contained negative emotions, 28.7% were neutral, and 7.71% expressed positive emotions. Within the scope of the qualitative analysis, 145 tweets were examined and classified under four main themes and two sub-themes; namely, news about violent patients, insult (insulting people in interpersonal relationships, insulting people in the news), mockery, and information. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the Turkish tweets about schizophrenia, which were emotionally analyzed using artificial intelligence were found often to contain negative emotions. It was also seen that Twitter users used the term schizophrenia, not in a medical sense but to insult and make fun of individuals, frequently shared the news that patients were victims or perpetrators of violence, and the messages shared by professional branch organizations or mental health professionals were primarily for conveying information to the public.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Rapid Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles With Rheum Ribes L Fruit Peels: Anticancer and Antimicrobial Effects With Biocompatible Structures(Ankara Univ, Fac Agriculture, 2024) Zor, Murat; Baran, Mehmet Firat; Ipek, Duygu Neval S. A. Y. I. N.; Eczacılık Meslek Bilimleri BölümüSilver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are substances with a wide range of uses. Utilizing extracts obtained from the peels of Rheum ribes L. (Rr) fruit growing in Erzurum region, silver nanoparticles were rapidly created in this study with a quick, easy, and environmentally friendly technique without harmful processes. In order to evaluate the attributes of the synthesized Rr-AgNPs, FE-SEM or TEM micrographs were utilized to characterize their morphology. A UV -visible spectrophotometer was used to assess the highest absorbance bands of RR-AgNPs. These data were used to define RR-AgNPs, which were characterized as having exclusively negative surface charges of -25 mV, spherical shape, maximum absorbance at 428 nm wavelength, and 96 nm size distribution. The effectiveness of the produced AgNPs for use in medical applications was assessed using the MTT technique with microdilution. Minimum inhibition concentrations of Rr-AgNPs for pathogen strains ranged from 0.03 to 0.50 mg/L. Additionally, it was discovered that AgNPs effectively suppressed malignant cells, with rates of 86.27%, 74.67%, and 73.49%, in the investigation of the anticancer effects of AgNPs. Healthy cells were not subject to any inhibitory effects at the same concentrations.
