Article Assessment of Artificial Lighting Conditions in Sunlight-Deprived Classrooms(Gazi Univ, Fac Engineering Architecture, 2025) Duyan, Fazila; Kaplan, ElifNumerous studies on classroom lighting emphasize a close and significant relationship between students' concentration, comprehension of course content, and the efficiency of activities such as drawing, writing, and practices, with the lighting conditions. In this context, it is particularly important to properly design both the physical and psychological effects of artificial lighting, especially in sunlight-deprived classrooms. This study examines the artificial lighting conditions of a classroom located in the basement of a university building, which has no visual connection to the outdoors. The classroom is utilized by students from the departments of Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Industrial Design. The study investigates the effects of current artificial lighting on students, focusing on aspects such as visual perception satisfaction, light colour, illuminance level, glare, and the temporal light modulation effect. To assess students' perception of the existing lighting conditions, an online questionnaire was administered, and a total of 104 students (65 female, 39 male) who had previous experience with the classroom participated in the study. Technical measurements of the existing luminaires were conducted, and the classroom was digitally modelled using the DIALux Evo lighting software. The collected data were analysed using the SPSS statistical analysis program. The findings of the study indicate that students perceived the artificial lighting conditions as inadequate in terms of visual comfort. Moreover, based on technical measurements, simulations, and user evaluations, it was determined that the existing luminaires caused glare and temporal light modulation effects, negatively affecting the classroom environment.Conference Object Sts: AI-Driven Smart Test Scenario Generation Tool(IEEE, 2025) Baglum, Cem; Yayan, UgurOne of the most critical steps in the software testing lifecycle, test scenario generation, reduces process efficiency due to its high time and resource requirements. As an innovative solution to this issue, the Smart Test Scenario Tool (STS) has been developed. Smart Test Scenario Tool (STS) enhances contextual accuracy and automation in test scenario generation by analyzing documents in xlsx, py, cpp, txt, and docx formats using large language models. This approach minimizes time loss, and the risk of errors encountered in traditional manual testing processes while transforming test procedures into a context-driven and systematic framework, offering an innovative contribution to the literature. Strengthened with a Streamlit interface, MongoDB-supported database management, and Ollama integration, the system enables the test scenario generation process, a critical component of the software testing cycle, to be conducted more efficiently and reliably. The validity of the study was confirmed through two distinct projects, the first implemented in Python and the second in C++.Article Determination of Post-Earthquake Trauma Level and Investigation of the Relationship with Physical Activity Status(Turkish Physiotherapy Association, 2025) Tosun, Anil; Yılmaz, Nergis; Luque, Demet Tekın De Las Penas; Tekin De Las Penas Luque, DemetAmaç: Çalışmanın amacı; 06 Şubat 2023’te meydana gelen Pazarcık-Elbistan merkezli depremler sebebiyle kişilerde oluşan travma düzeyinin, kişinin fiziksel aktivite durumu ile ilişkisini incelemektir. Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 5Qualitative and Artificial Intelligence-Based Sentiment Analysis of Turkish Tweets Related To Schizophrenia(Turkiye Sinir ve Ruh Sagligi dernegi, 2023) Dikec, Gul; Oban, Volkan; Usta, Mirac BarisObjective: The aim of this study was to qualitatively examine Turkish tweets about schizophrenia in respect of stigmatization and discrimination within a one-month period and to conduct emotional analysis using artificial intelligence applications. Method: Using the keyword 'schizophrenia,' Turkish tweets were gathered from the Python Tweepy application between December 19, 2020 and January 18, 2021. Features were extracted using the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) method and artificial neural networks and tweets were classified as positive, neutral, or negative. Approximately 5% of the tweets were qualitatively analyzed, constituting those most frequently liked and retweeted. Results: The study found that, of the total of 3406 schizophrenia-related messages shared in Turkey over a period of one-month, 2996 were original, and were then retweeted a total of 1823 times, and liked by 25,413 people. It was determined that 63.4% of the tweets shared about schizophrenia contained negative emotions, 28.7% were neutral, and 7.71% expressed positive emotions. Within the scope of the qualitative analysis, 145 tweets were examined and classified under four main themes and two sub-themes; namely, news about violent patients, insult (insulting people in interpersonal relationships, insulting people in the news), mockery, and information. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the Turkish tweets about schizophrenia, which were emotionally analyzed using artificial intelligence were found often to contain negative emotions. It was also seen that Twitter users used the term schizophrenia, not in a medical sense but to insult and make fun of individuals, frequently shared the news that patients were victims or perpetrators of violence, and the messages shared by professional branch organizations or mental health professionals were primarily for conveying information to the public.Article Reading Basic Design Principles Through Modern Architectural Structures(Nilay Ozsavas Ulucay, 2023) Yıldırım Coruk, İ.; Coruk, Ipek YildirimBasic design principles are taught within the scope of basic design education in the first-year studios. Basic design education and its content have different dimensions from the education system the student previously received due to its structure and difficulty comprehending because it contains new literature for the student and often has abstract educational content. On the other hand, the students have difficulty perceiving the information acquired in this course and question how they can benefit from it in the following years and professional life. Therefore, the aim of the study is to analyze the basic design principles through modern architectural structures. In the study created by qualitative research method, the data were obtained by analyzing the principles mentioned in the determined examples. These examples were selected among the Bauhaus and later modern buildings by considering the role of the Bauhaus school, where the basic design principles emerged in the spread of modern architecture, and the scope of the study was created. As a result of the study, concrete uses and equivalents of basic design principles were revealed with the determined examples. Thus, data on how students will benefit from basic design principles have been revealed. © 2023, Nilay OZSAVAS ULUCAY. Methods: In this study conducted with 302 children and their mothers, data on children and their families were obtained using a questionnaire. Z-scores were determined by measuring the weight and height of the children, and these were compared with percentile curves developed for Turkish children. Energy and macronutrient consumption were determined by taking a daily food consumption record for each child. Results: The average age, birth weight and height of children were 18.6 +/- 3.2 months, 3.2 +/- 0.5 kg and 50.0 +/- 2.3 cm, respectively. Their current weight and height were determined as 11.4 +/- 1.6 kg and 80.6 +/- 6.5 cm. It was observed that 85.6% of the children had normal body weight, 69.5% normal BMI and 56.2% normal height z score. It has been determined that body weight and height z-scores are higher in girls compared to boys (22.1%, 32.6% and 24.7% respectively in + 2SD). Body weights of children with high monthly income were also found to be significantly higher (15.6% in + 2SD, p=0.038). Conclusions: It has been concluded that the standards, gender and the economic status of the family in this age period are effective on childrens' growth.Article Space as a Source of Alienation in the Context of Migration Debates(Yildiz Technical Univ, Fac Architecture, 2022) Ulubay, Serhat; Onal, FerideMigration is one of the main agenda items of the time we live in. Migration mobility, which is defined as an act of displacement in its basic meaning corresponds to a process affecting many dynamics. It does not seem possible to make an overarching immigration definition due to the reasons for its emergence, the effect it creates on the social structure and the difference in its results. The phenomenon of immigration existing in the literature with definitions closer to its essential sense such as 'spatial mobility', 'act of displacement', 'transition from one place to another with the intention of settlement' does not contain the content of an absolute border crossing action. Crossing a border does not end the act of migration, but immigrants encounter ethnic, religious, social, class and many other thresholds and borders. For this reason, migration is not just an act of displacement. Immigrants migrate to places, cultures, social structures, life and many other aspects of new geographies. Social elements and spaces established with daily lives are one of the thresholds faced by the immigrant. Immigrants are stuck between the places in their geographies and the places and lifestyles in their new places where they came through immigration. This contrast manifests itself as soon as they step into a new geography and this situation transforms into an element of oppression for immigrants. The migration does not only correspond to the loss of physical spaces, but also to the dissipation of all social and daily life. For that reason, Arent, Heidegger and Blanchot define migrations of the current time period is independent of a physical displacement, alienation from the social and daily life acts to which one belongs and estrangement of the individual from his own essence. Alienation of one's own self, identity and sociality, drags them into an everlasting migration. For this reason, Blanchot emphasises that immigration starts as soon as the immigrant gets used to the places where he/she migrates, not when he/she fails to get used to the places. It is worth remembering that the space cited here has abstract content as well as concrete construction activity. Space according to Lefebvre exists as a product of the cultural, social and historical acts of societies. For this reason, it is specific to a community. It incorporates not only a concreteness, but also the mentality containing the traces of communities. Space represents a critical threshold in debates about immigration. For immigrants, space is both the grounds fin- establishing a sense of belonging and preserving their own identity, as well as the source of alienation and mental migration. This contrast is discussed in the study through Derrida's "hospitality" statement and the concepts of spatial memory and belonging. Immigrant according to Derrida, encounters a sovereign power defining itself as the owner of the place, in other words, the host, in the geography where he migrated. The host offers a place to the immigrant, whom he/she sees as a guest, and hosts him/her in his home. In fact, the landlord defines where, how and in what way he or she will live, together with the space and draws limits to him/ her. That he/she presents his/her way of life to the immigrant as if it were a rule that he/she must abide by. This style of presentation is a kind of imposition, because it doesn't contain any preference option in it: "I host you in my home. Welcome to my home, save to adhere my language, tradition, lifestyle, laws and rules". This language of life that the immigrant does not recognise and is not familiar with, is an act of mental 'violence perpetrated against him/her. This act of violence takes place through space. Although the immigrant loses his/her place by experiencing a physical migration, he/she brings all the acts of his social and daily life with him/her through his memory. These acts kept in the memory, stands out as the founding elements of the space in the new lands. Immigrants attempt to create their own spaces and lives through their memories instead of venues and lifestyles offered to them. For this reason, space is also the opposite of mental migration and alienation as the preservation of ego and identity. The space, in the migration actions that took place in the current time period, on one hand, is the main actor of eternal immigration and on the other hand protecting identity. The immigrant is stuck between the space offered to him/her and his/her actions and spatial memory in the new lands he/she has come from. The study aims to examine the situation of the immigrant, to question the source of alienation and (main) migration over this sense incorporated by the space.Review Molecular Characterization of Resistance and Virulence Genes in Enterococcus Faecium Strains Isolated Between 2000-2021; Systematic Review(Bilimsel Tip Yayinevi, 2022) Kahraman Kilbas, Elmas Pinar; Kilbas, Imdat; Ciftci, Ihsan Hakki; Kılbaş, Elmas Pınar KahramanIntroduction: The spread of Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci (VRE) is a major threat in healthcare institutions, especially for patients in the risk group. The aim of this study is to reveal the antibiotic resistance genes, virulence genes and other accompanying factors detected in vancomycin resistant Enterococcus faecium strains isolated from various clinical specimens in different parts of Turkiye. Material and Methods: For this purpose, a systematic search was carried out using different electronic databases between January 2000 and September 2021. A total of 17 studies were evaluated within the scope of systematic review. Results: The vanA gene was detected the most between the years 2000-2007, and no statistically significant difference was found according to the years. The prevalence of the vanB gene was highest between 2008 and 2013, and no statistical difference was found according to the years (p> 0.05). The vanA gene was mostly detected in Eastern Anatolia, Black Sea, Mediterranean and Aegean, vanB Central Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia regions. No reports related to the vanC gene were found. Since all strains were E. faecium in our study, it is an expected finding that the vanC gene region was never reported. The esp and hyl gene between 2014-2021. Conclusion: The prevalence of resistance and virulence genes among bacteria is a matter of great concern, limiting treatment options. In particular, effective measures should be taken to prevent healthcare-associated VRE infections, and each institution should report its own resistance data.Article Citation - WoS: 5Citation - Scopus: 6An Integrated Methodology Proposal for Sustainable Fashion: Understanding and Examining Criteria Affecting the Second-Hand Clothes Shopping(Gazi Univ, Fac Engineering Architecture, 2022) Usta, Saliha Karadayi; Kadaifci, Cigdem; Karadayi-usta, SalihaSustainable fashion is an important movement that offers numerous benefits in the long run by questioning the actual needs of the consumer, selecting the natural fabrics, preferring the brands providing ethical working conditions for the employees, using the acquired clothes as long as possible, repairing when necessary, and recycling into yarn when the lifetime is over, or transforming into a new product by changing the function of the items. In this context, the most active role of consumers is to prefer quality products that can last for many years and to extend the time of the products remaining in use, especially through the purchase and sale of second-hand clothes. While current papers provide roadmaps based on conceptual details, and consumer perception and attitude, there is no comprehensive study in second-hand shopping practices specific to clothing. Hence, the aim of this study is proposing an integrated methodology to understand the criteria that consumers pay attention in second-hand clothes shopping platforms as a tool that makes sustainable fashion possible via literature review, individual interviews and text mining, to determine the weights of these criteria according to their importance via Step-Wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) methodology, and to compare the prominent platform alternatives via Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment (WASPAS) technique. The criteria weights vary depending on the sustainability awareness of consumers, and on the generation gap.
