Abstract
The study was conducted methodologically to determine the validity and reliability of the Spiritual Resilience Scale in the Turkish population in oncology patients. After obtaining all necessary permissions, the data were obtained from 148 patients in the chemotherapy unit of Oncology Hospital in April-June 2023. 'Patient Identification Form' and 'Spiritual Resilience Scale' were used to collect the data. Language validity, content validity, construct validity, skewness and kurtosis analysis, reliability analysis, test-retest analysis, convergent and divergent validity tests were used for statistical analysis. Language translation was used for language validity and expert opinion was taken for content validity. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used for construct validity. The CFA findings of the scale were Chi-Square/df=4.30, RMSEA=0.06, GFI=0.90, CFI=0.90 and RMR=0.02. CFA results revealed that the goodness of fit index values were within the ranges recommended in the literature. According to the reliability analyses, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.857 and the values of the sub-dimensions were found to be between 0.805-0.823. Total item correlation values were found to vary between 0.446-0.700. Construct Reliability (CR) and Average Variance Explained (AVE) values were examined to test the construct validity of the variables in the scale. The CR values of the scale were found between 0.803-0.865 and the AVE values were found between 0.535-0.632. In our study, test-retest was applied to evaluate the invariance of the scale. ICC (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient) values regarding the agreement between these measurements were examined. ICC values were found to be high between 0.888 and 0.902 and no difference was found between the test-retest values. As a result, it was determined that the Spiritual Resilience Scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool for oncology patients. Keywords: Validity-reliability, spirituality, spiritual, oncology, scale
