    A Guide To Facilitate the Creation of a Femoral Tunnel for Arthroscopic Ligamentum Teres Reconstruction: a Three-Dimensional Computed Tomography Study

    The ideal femoral tunnel passing through the centre of the femoral neck targeted to the footprint of the ligamentum teres (LT) is established during the LT reconstruction surgery with the free-hand technique. We aimed to quantitatively determine the entry site and define the angular orientation of the ideal femoral tunnel with its relevance to the femoral valgus angle (FVA) and the femoral anteversion angle (FAA) to facilitate the creation of an ideal femoral tunnel during the LT reconstruction surgery. A total of 60 randomly selected CT images were obtained to reconstruct three-dimensional femur models. A virtual reamer representing the ideal femoral tunnel was placed in the femur models. The femur length, FVA, FAA, the femoral tunnel anterior angle, the femoral tunnel superior angle and the skin- and bony-entry sites were measured. The femoral tunnel angular orientation was strongly correlated with the FVA and the FAA. Mathematical formulas were defined by which entry site of the reamer and the anterior and superior angulation of the femoral tunnel could be estimated before the surgery. The mean skin-entry site was 67.3 mm distal and 0.1 mm anterior to the centre of the greater trochanter's superior border. The angular orientation of the femoral tunnel using FVA and FAA can be easily estimated using mathematical formulas before LT reconstruction surgery. The entry site and angular orientation of the femoral tunnel described in this study can be used to reduce dependency on the usage of fluoroscopy and the workload on the surgeon during the LT reconstruction surgery.

    Evaluation of Renal Functions of Inpatients With Mental Disorders

    The current study aimed to investigate the renal functions of inpatients with mental disorders. Data for this retrospective and descriptive study were collected from January 2021 to April 2021 from the records of patients who were hospitalized in the psychiatry clinic of a training and research hospital between 2018 and 2020. The study sample comprised hospital records of 376 patients. A significant negative relationship was determined between patients'glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and glucose level, duration of mental disorder, number of hospitalizations, and duration of medication use (p < 0.05). According to the analysis of patients' renal functions, mean GFR was statistically significantly lower in women with physical chronic diseases and diagnosed with personality disorders. Psychiatric-mental health nurses should evaluate and monitor renal functions of individuals with mental disorders and take precautions before kidney diseases develop.

    Protocol Registration and Reporting of Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses Published in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Journals: a Descriptive Study

    Although it is not mandatory for systematic review and meta-analysis studies, protocol registration is essential in the prevention of biases. This study aims to investigate the protocol registration status and reporting of systematic reviews and meta-analyses published in psychiatric nursing journals. This descriptive study's data were obtained by scanning the 10 mental health and psychiatric nursing journals in which the studies of psychiatric nurses were most frequently published and by examining the systematic reviews and meta-analyses published between 2012-2022. A total of 177 completed studies have been reviewed. It was determined that 18.6% of the examined systematic reviews and meta-analyses had a protocol registration. Almost all (96.9%) of the registered studies were registered with PROSPERO, and 72.7% were registered prospectively. It was determined that the registration status of the studies changed statistically according to the country where the studies' authors were located. When the published studies were examined, it was determined that approximately one out of every five studies were registered. With the prospective registration of systematic reviews, biases could be prevented, and evidence-based interventions can be made based on the knowledge obtained.

    Evaluation of Telemedicine for Contraceptive Counseling Given To Pregnant Women During the Covid-19 Pandemic: a Randomized Controlled Trial

    In this study, we aimed to evaluate the impact of telemedicine for contraceptive counseling on knowledge levels and satisfaction with Family Planning Services. We collected data from 77 third-trimester pregnant women using a personal information form, Family Planning Knowledge Questionnaire, and the Satisfaction with Family Planning Services Scale and compared the data using chi-square test, Fisher's exact chi-square test, t-test for independent and dependent groups and Mann-Whitney U analysis. The experimental group participants (n = 37) received two informative video visits for contraceptive counseling, while the women in the control group (n = 40) received routine face-to-face Family Planning Services at their primary health care center. Participants in the experimental group showed a greater increase in knowledge levels and higher satisfaction with Family Planning Services than those in the control group (p < 0.05). In conclusion, we determined that telemedicine for contraceptive counseling is a promising option even beyond the pandemic.

    The Relationship Between Malnutrition and Subjective Taste Change Experienced by Patients With Cancer Receiving Outpatient Chemotherapy Treatment

    Taste changes and malnutrition are two important problems in patients with different types of cancer. This study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between malnutrition and subjective taste changes experienced by cancer patients receiving outpatient chemotherapy. The study used a cross-sectional design and was carried out with 1382 patients with cancer receiving outpatient chemotherapy. Of the patients, 63.1% experienced taste changes. It was determined that 8.8% of patients had malnutrition according to the Mini Nutritional Assessment. The mean scores of patients experiencing malnutrition and being at risk for malnutrition from all sub-dimensions of The Chemotherapy-induced Taste Alteration Scale (CiTAS) were found to be higher than the patient group evaluated to have normal nutrition. It was determined that a unit increase in the scores of the parageusia and phantogeusia subscales of the CiTAS increased the risk of malnutrition by 3.36 times (%95 CI= 2.68-4.02). In line with these results, we recommend that patients with cancer receiving chemotherapy should be routinely evaluated in terms of taste changes in clinical practice and that they should be followed up in terms of malnutrition in the presence of taste changes.

    Effects of Adding Respiratory Training To Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment on Exhaled Nitric Oxide Level and Cardiopulmonary Function in Patients With Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

    Limited research exists regarding nonpharmacologic management of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), except for exercise training. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) alone and combined with respiratory training on fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO), and cardiopulmonary function in patients with PAH. This single-blind, prospective, randomized controlled study included 54 patients with PAH who were randomly allocated to OMT, combined intervention, and control groups. The OMT group (n = 16) and combined intervention group (n = 16) received OMT and yoga respiratory training plus OMT, respectively, twice a week for 8 weeks. The control group (n = 16) received no intervention. All patients undertook an educational lecture. FeNO level, pulmonary function, 6-minute walk distance (6MWD), maximal inspiratory and expiratory pressures, and handgrip strength were assessed at baseline and 8 weeks. Combined intervention and OMT groups significantly improved all outcome measures after 8 weeks of treatment (p 0.01), except mean forced expiratory flow between 25% and 75% of forced vital capacity, which did not change in the OMT group (p 0.05). The control group showed significant deteriorations in 6MWD, inspiratory and peripheral muscle strength, and pulmonary function except peak expiratory flow at 8 weeks (p <0.05). The combined intervention group revealed significantly greater improvements of FeNO, 6MWD, respiratory and peripheral muscle strength, and pulmonary function except mean forced expiratory flow between 25% and 75% of forced vital capacity compared with the OMT group (p <0.05). All outcomes significantly improved in both intervention groups versus the control group (p <0.05). Our study demonstrated that adding respiratory training to OMT provided further benefit to FeNO level and cardiopulmonary function compared with OMT alone and that the OMT might be a useful and safe intervention for patients who cannot attend cardiac rehabilitation programs.     Balance Training in Modern Dancers Proprioceptive-Neuromuscular Training Vs Kinesio Taping

    Kinesio tape and proprioceptive exercises are both used for increasing balance in dancers. The purposes of this study were to: a) determine the acute effect of kinesio tape (KT) application on the ankle joint on balance performance, b) investigate the effects of an 8-week proprioceptive-neuromuscular (PN) training program on balance performance, and c) compare their effects vs modern dance technique classes alone. Thirty-three trained, university-level modern dance students (9 male, 24 female) were divided randomly into three groups: kinesio tape (KT, n=11), proprioceptive-neuromuscular (PN, n=11), or control (n=11). Static (turn-out passe-opened eyes/releve and turn-out passe-closed eyes/flat foot), semi-dynamic (airplane), and dynamic balance (monopodalic-straight and -transverse in a turn-out passe-eyes opened/flat foot) tests were performed before and after the intervention. One day after pre-tests, KT mechanical correction technique was applied to the left ankle joint (supporting leg) in the KT group, and tests were repeated to determine the acute effect of KT. The PN group participated in an 8-week balance training program (2 days/wk, 60 min/day) involving exercises using stable and unstable surfaces. Significant improvements were observed for all static and dynamic balance tests in the PN group; semi-dynamic airplane and dynamic monopodalic-straight and transverse tests improved in the KT group; and only semi-dynamic airplane test scores changed significantly for the control group (p<0.05). Our findings suggest that with the exception of the semi-dynamic airplane test, both PN training and KT application were more effective at improving balance performance for modern dancers than modern dance technique classes alone.

    Solution of the Boundary-Value Problem of Heat Conduction With Periodic Boundary Conditions

    We investigate the solution of the inverse problem for a linear two-dimensional parabolic equation with periodic boundary and integral overdetermination conditions. Under certain natural regularity and consistency conditions imposed on the input data, we establish the existence, uniqueness of the solution, and its continuous dependence on the data by using the generalized Fourier method. In addition, an iterative algorithm is constructed for the numerical solution of the problem.

    Qualitative and Artificial Intelligence-Based Sentiment Analyses of Anti-Lgbti Plus Hate Speech on Twitter in Turkey

    The aim of this study was to evaluate hate speech in Turkish LGBTI+-related tweets during a one-month period of artificial intelligence-based sentiment analyses. Turkish tweets related to LGBTI+, were retrieved using Python library Tweepy and were evaluated by sentiment analysis. The researchers then performed a qualitative analysis of the most frequently liked and retweeted tweets (n = 556). Sentiment analysis revealed that 69.5% of tweets were negative, 23.3% were neutral, and 7.2% were positive. The qualitative analysis was grouped under seven themes: LGBTI+ Club; Terrorism and Terrorist Organization Membership; Perversion, Illness, Immorality; Presence in History; Religious References; Insults; and Humiliation. The results of this study show that anti-LGBTI+ hate speech in Turkey is significant in terms of both quality and quantity. As LGBTI+ individuals are at risk for excess mental distress and disorders, it is important to understand the risks and other factors that ameliorate stress and contribute to mental health in social media.
