Article Opinions of Students in the Field of Health on Distance Education During the Covid-19 Pandemic: a Cross-Sectional Study(Galenos Publ House, 2024) Kaya, Gizem; Karaca, Anita; Beji, Nezihe KizilkayaObjective: It is important to determine the opinions and preferences of students about distance education as its use is becoming more and more prevalent because of the Coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic. It was aimed to determine the opinions of students in the field of health about distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study which was conducted at the Faculty of Health Sciences of a foundation university in stanbul. The data were obtained from 476 students who were studying at the Faculty of Health Sciences of a university between June and July 2021, using a Student Information Form and Student Opinions on Distance Education Survey. Results: When asked their opinions on distance education, most described that face-to-face education was more useful than distance education (65.1%) and that having practical lessons with distance education negatively affected their learning (61.1%). Conversely, most of the students expressed that they could listen to the parts of the lessons they did not understand again (93.1%), could listen to the lessons they missed (90.3%), and that distance education provided them with the convenience of taking lessons wherever internet access was available (76.7%). Conclusion: The results indicated that students did not have considerable problems during distance education, they benefited from the advantages of distance education and were generally satisfied with it. In relation to the problems experienced during the pandemic, we recommend to take measures especially for applied lessons, to continue to benefit from the advantages of distance education by combining it with formal education in appropriate lessons, and to make necessary improvements by evaluating the opinions of students on a departmental basis.Article Adaptation of Caregivers' Task Scale for Multiple Sclerosis To Turkish Society: Validity and Reliability Study(Dokuz Eylul Univ inst Health Sciences, 2022) Eroglu, Nermin; Tosun, Anil TekeogluObjectives: This study was planned and carried out methodologically to adapt the Caregiving Tasks in Multiple Sclerosis Scale (CTiMSS) to Turkish society. Methods: A methodological research. The study was conducted with caregivers of individuals with multiple sclerosis who presented to the neurology clinic of a university hospital between June 2019 and September 2020. The validity and reliability study of the Caregiving Tasks in Multiple Sclerosis Scale (CTiMSS) was performed with a total of 142 individuals, which is more than 5 times the number of items on the scale (24 items). Results: The validity of the CTiMSS was evaluated with language validity, construct validity (CFA), and content validity. The reliability coefficient of the internal consistency analysis (Cronbach's Alpha) was found to be extremely high (0.97). Item-total correlation of the scale was examined, and accordingly, no items were removed from the scale. The scale was administered to 30 patients at a two-week interval to analyze test-retest reliability and time-dependent invariance. Conclusion: The CTiMSS, which was adapted to Turkish society to evaluate the tasks of individuals providing care for individuals with multiple sclerosis, is a valid and reliable tool. We recommend that it should be administered to different groups and cultures to increase its evidence value. CTiMSS is an appropriate measurement tool to determine the duties of caregivers of individuals with multiple sclerosis.Article Citation - WoS: 1The Effect of Training on Stress and Coping With Stress in Patients Receiving Infertility Treatment(Cukurova Univ, Fac Medicine, 2020) Eroglu, Nermin; Temiz, GamzePurpose: This study was planned and applied semi-experimentally to examine the effect of education given to patients receiving infertility treatment on stress and coping with stress. Materials and Methods: The study is semi-experimental. It was held between May 2017 and January 2018 with individuals who applied to a foundation hospital in Istanbul province for IVF treatment. The sample was made up of 40 infertile individuals. The data were collected by the researcher through face-to-face interview method. Training was given after pretesting. Post-test was performed one month after the training. Results: The pre-education stress scale of middle school graduates of infertile women was higher, this difference disappeared after education, and there was a statistically significant difference between the infertility stress and coping scale subscale mean scores. As the use of active ignoring, active struggling and passive ignoring coping methods of women, the use of the methods of coping with the infertility subscale scores increased, the infertility stress subscale scores increased.. Conclusion: In this study, the relationship between infertility and stress research was investigated and it was concluded that the treatment process and results are an important source of stress in patients. According to the results obtained, it is recommended to determine the stress level and methods of coping with stress, and provide training and counseling on patients who apply to the hospital for infertility treatment.Article The Relation of The Duration of Work in Dentists With Postural Problems, Range of Motion and Pain(Bezmialem Vakif Univ, 2020) Tekin, Demet; Koksal, MesutObjective: The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between cervical and lumbar range of motions, pain and postural problems with the time spent in the occupation in dentists. Methods: A total of 56 dentists (27 males, 29 females), participated in this research as a volunteer (age=29.55 +/- 9.5 years). Firstly, the participants were divided into 3 groups according to the working years in their life and the time spent at unit during the day; they were also divided into 2 groups according to the intermittent or uninterrupted working conditions during the day. Cervical and lumbar joint range of motions were measured to determine limitations. The McGill pain scale survey was used to evaluate the pain. Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests with a posthoc Bonferroni test were used for all statistical analyses. Results: It was seen that the cervical and lumbar joint range of motions decreased, and the postural deformities in the spine and knee were observed and the level of pain increased significantly in comparatively to the excess of the time spent in the profession. However, in the analysis according to the time spent at the unit during the day, only the decrease in the range of motion of the regions was determined with the increase of the time spent at the unit during the day. Conclusion: With the increase in the working years in the dentists, it was revealed that the limitation of the range of motion increased and posture disorders and pain were formed. It is thought that all these problems will be caused by working in non-ergonomic environments for a long time. In this respect, it is important to include experts in the field of physiotherapy in the courses given under the name of preventive medicine. As a result, it can be said that the health problems encountered with the increase in time spent in the profession have increased.Article Citation - WoS: 1Time Difference Between Onsets of Lateral and Medial Hamstring Muscles During Gait in Patients With Patellofemoral Pain: a Preliminary Study(Marmara Univ, inst Health Sciences, 2022) Coskunsu, Dilber Karagozoglu; Can, Filiz; Kuchimovs, Shavkat; Akalan, Nazif Ekin; Kilicoglu, I. Onder; Ozturk, Necla; Kuchimov, Shavkat; Kılıçoğlu, Önder İsmetObjective: Early activation of lateral hamstrings (LH) relative to medial hamstrings (MH) has been thought to be the cause of abnormal knee abduction and external rotation of the tibia, which affects the orientation of patellar tendon and increases lateral patellofemoral compression. Therefore, early activation of LH relative to MH is considered to have a role in the patellofemoral pain (PFP). The aim of this study was to investigate the time difference between MH and LH onsets in patients with PFP during gait. Methods: Thirteen patients with bilateral PFP (mean age 28.73 +/- 7.44 years) and 13 asymptomatic subjects (mean age 30.47 +/- 6.22 years) were recruited in the study. Gait analysis was performed using the ELITE system (BTS, Milano-Italy) with video cameras (TVC, BTS, Milano-Italy). Participants were requested to walk at a self-selected speed on a force platform, and EMG data were recorded from MH and LH muscles for 10 initial contacts by using TELEEMG (BTS, Milano-Italy). Time difference between the onsets of the MH and LH was calculated for each initial contact by using moving averaging method, then their mean was obtained for each participant. Results: The time difference between onsets of MH and LH was - 26.9 +/- 22.2 ms for PFP subjects and - 11.2 +/- 14.2 ms for control subjects, and LH mainly became activated earlier compared to MH in most of the subjects in both groups. There was a statistically significant difference between the time differences of the groups (p=0.041). Conclusion: Our findings suggest that LH displayed an earlier activation in subjects with PFP compared to control subjects during gait.
