    An Analysis of Psychological Resilience Levels Among Judo Coaches According to Selected Demographic Factors

    Background. Psychological resilience is a crucial personal trait that enables individuals, especially those in high-stress professions like coaching, to adapt and thrive in the face of adversity. Understanding how resilience manifests among coaches can contribute to more effective support and development strategies in sports psychology. Problem and aim. This study aims to determine whether the psychological resilience levels of judo coaches differ according to demographic variables such as age, educational background, coaching certification level, years of coaching experience, profession, and perceived economic status. Material and methods. The sample included 284 active judo coaches (58 women and 226 men) from Istanbul, Kutahya, and Eskisehir. Data were collected using the “Psychological Resilience Scale for Adults” [Friborg et al. 2003; Basim, Cetin 2011] and a “Personal Information Form.” Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS 24.0, including independent samples t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and Eta squared analysis to assess the influence of demographic actors on resilience levels. Results. The findings indicated significant differences in psychological resilience levels based on gender, marital status, age, educational attainment, coaching experience, income level, and coaching certification level. Conclusions. The results suggest that psychological resilience among judo coaches is meaningfully influenced by various demographic characteristics. These findings underscore the importance of tailoring psychological support and development programs to the specific profiles of coaches. © Yoshin Academy

    Medical Ethics Assessment Scale for Sports: a New Tool

    The purpose of this study was to develop the Medical Ethics Assessment Scale for Sports (MEASS) and to asses the vison of amateur level competitor athletes, using this scale, about level of compliance with professional ethical principles of their health professionals and the sports medicine organisations with which they come in contact. The study was conducted on 400 participants (n(female)=145; n(male)=255) aged 16-35 from different sports. MEASS was constructed with 13 items and three factors: 'Not harming the patient's body', 'Informing the patient', and 'Maintaining patient's privacy and right to choose care'. The validity value was found to be 0.795. The exploratory factor analysis showed all three factors had eigenvalues greater than 1.0 (55.7% variance). Cronbach's Alpha reliability (alpha) correlation coefficient was 0.725. These results showed that the scale is suitable for factor analysis and reliable. The MEASS can be used as a new measurement tool to evaluate the ethics of health professionals and organisations. The results also demonstrated that athletes feel well-informed and unharmed by their physicians, but would prefer more control over their care choices and how their personal information is used.

    Nonviolent Communication in Lifelong Education

    In today's world, the increase of othering and xenophobia with acts of violence, along with the changes that consume resources due to climate changes such as wars, irregular migration movements, famine and thirst, are an important necessity for understanding nonviolent communication and its application in the field of lifelong education. This requirement brought the problem of "adult education" to the agenda and accelerated the studies on the lifelong learning approach. In addition, key messages developed by UNESCO and the European Commission defined the characteristics that the lifelong learning approach should have. Within the scope of the study, the concept of nonviolent communication explained, and the "Make a Gesture Your Opponent" campaign, which includes nonviolent communication training for Turkey Football Federation first league teams, examined. Within the scope of the study, the "Make a Gesture to Your Opponent" campaign was determined as a case study. Accordingly, the official website of the campaign was examined. As a result of the analysis carried out in line with the key messages, the nonviolent communication approach that the "Make a Gesture Your Opponent" project wanted to instill in its participants shows how important education is in all areas of life.
