Article Effects of an Adapted Dance Exercise Program on Trunk Control, Balance and Functional Mobility in Children and Adolescents with Cerebral Palsy: Randomized Controlled Study(Taylor & Francis inc, 2025) Yekdaneh, Asena; Arman, NilayAims: The study aimed to investigate whether an 8-week adapted dance exercise program (ADEP), delivered in addition to conventional physiotherapy, would improve trunk control, balance, functional mobility, and quality of life (QoL) in children and adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP) compared with conventional physiotherapy alone. Methods: Thirty participants with CP (Gross Motor Function Classification System Level I - II) were randomly assigned to the ADEP group (n = 15) or the control group (n = 15). Both groups received conventional physiotherapy, while the ADEP group additionally performed physiotherapist-choreographed dance exercises accompanied by music, twice a week for 8 weeks. Outcomes included the Trunk Control Measurement Scale (TCMS) for trunk control, the Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS) for balance, the Timed Up and Go (TUG) for functional mobility, and the Pediatric Outcomes Data Collection Instrument (PODCI) for QoL. Results: The ADEP group showed significantly greater improvements than the control group in TCMS-Total (Delta = 10.53 vs 3.50, p < .001), TCMS-selective motor control (Delta = 6.00 vs 1.42, p < .001), TCMS-dynamic sitting balance (Delta = 7.53 vs 2.28, p < .001), and PODCI-Global scores (Delta = 4.61 vs -1.71, p < .001). Both groups improved in PBS and TUG, but between-group differences were not significant. Effect sizes indicated large improvements in trunk control in favor of the ADEP group. Conclusions: An 8-week ADEP program, when combined with conventional physiotherapy, produced clinically meaningful gains in trunk control and QoL in children and adolescents with CP. Exercise programs were developed by ChatGPT-4, ChatGPT-4o, Gemini-1.5 Pro models, and a group of human expert trainers for a hypothetical obese individual case. All exercise programs were assessed based on the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) guidelines. The chatbot-generated programs were consistent with ACSM and NASM standards, indicating their potential use in low-resource settings. Nevertheless, considerable differences were found between human trainers and chatbots in key parameters, including initial load and target heart rate zone recommendations. While AI chatbots have the potential to enhance accessibility, human expertise remains essential to ensure program safety and effectiveness. Eighty participants were enrolled in this study, 40 with multiple sclerosis and 40 with healthy controls. Participants were between 18 and 65 years of age and asked to complete the Adult Sensory Profile, and Canadian Occupational Performance Measure. The findings of the study revealed that participants with multiple sclerosis had a lower ability to register sensory input, a higher sensory sensitivity, and avoidance, as well as lower levels of performance and satisfaction in their daily occupations, compared to the healthy controls (p < 0.05). People with multiple sclerosis often experience difficulties with sensory processing and occupational performance in daily life. More research and practice are needed on the role of sensory processing and occupational performance in daily life in people with multiple sclerosis.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 3Protocol Registration and Reporting of Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses Published in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Journals: a Descriptive Study(Taylor & Francis inc, 2023) Dikec, Gul; Ozer, DuyguAlthough it is not mandatory for systematic review and meta-analysis studies, protocol registration is essential in the prevention of biases. This study aims to investigate the protocol registration status and reporting of systematic reviews and meta-analyses published in psychiatric nursing journals. This descriptive study's data were obtained by scanning the 10 mental health and psychiatric nursing journals in which the studies of psychiatric nurses were most frequently published and by examining the systematic reviews and meta-analyses published between 2012-2022. A total of 177 completed studies have been reviewed. It was determined that 18.6% of the examined systematic reviews and meta-analyses had a protocol registration. Almost all (96.9%) of the registered studies were registered with PROSPERO, and 72.7% were registered prospectively. It was determined that the registration status of the studies changed statistically according to the country where the studies' authors were located. When the published studies were examined, it was determined that approximately one out of every five studies were registered. With the prospective registration of systematic reviews, biases could be prevented, and evidence-based interventions can be made based on the knowledge obtained.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 1Evaluation of Telemedicine for Contraceptive Counseling Given To Pregnant Women During the Covid-19 Pandemic: a Randomized Controlled Trial(Taylor & Francis inc, 2024) Aksut, Rabia Saglam; Inam, Ozen; Saglam Aksut, RabiaIn this study, we aimed to evaluate the impact of telemedicine for contraceptive counseling on knowledge levels and satisfaction with Family Planning Services. We collected data from 77 third-trimester pregnant women using a personal information form, Family Planning Knowledge Questionnaire, and the Satisfaction with Family Planning Services Scale and compared the data using chi-square test, Fisher's exact chi-square test, t-test for independent and dependent groups and Mann-Whitney U analysis. The experimental group participants (n = 37) received two informative video visits for contraceptive counseling, while the women in the control group (n = 40) received routine face-to-face Family Planning Services at their primary health care center. Participants in the experimental group showed a greater increase in knowledge levels and higher satisfaction with Family Planning Services than those in the control group (p < 0.05). As work-related musculoskeletal disorders represent an increasingly important issue for occupational therapists, this study determined musculoskeletal disorders among occupational therapists in Turkey. A total of 238 occupational therapists participated and completed the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. As a result, 73.1% of participants reported experiencing neck pain and 72.3% reported experiencing low back pain at 12 months. Statistically significant differences were found between participants with and without work-related musculoskeletal disorders regarding gender, experience, workplace type, treatment, and daily working hours (p < 0.05). Because mammalian cells exclusively utilize the FAS-I enzyme system for fatty acid production, targeting the FAS-II enzyme system could serve as a specific approach for developing selective antimycobacterial drugs. Enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase enzyme (MtInhA), part of the FAS-II enzyme system, contains the NADH cofactor in its active site and reduces the intermediate. Molecular docking studies were performed on an in-house database (similar to 2200 compounds). For this study, five different crystal structures of MtInhA (PDB Code: 4TZK, 4BQP, 4D0S, 4BGE, 4BII) were used due to rotamer difference, mutation and the presence of cofactors. Molecular dynamics simulations (250 ns) were performed for the novel 2-acylhydrazono-5-arylmethylene-4-thiazolidinones derivatives selected by molecular docking studies. Twenty-three compounds selected by in silico methods were synthesized. Antitubercular activity and MtInhA enzyme inhibition studies were performed for compounds whose structures were elucidated by IR,H-1-NMR,C-13-NMR, HSQC, HMBC, MS and elemental analysis. GunizIn our continuing search for new anticancer agents, herein we report the synthesis of 2-(4-chloro-3-methylphenoxy)-N'-[(aryl)methylidene]acetohydrazides 3a-j and the evaluation of their anticancer activities on cell viability, morphological changes and caspase-3 activity in cancer cell lines including gastric cancer (MKN45), cervical cancer (HeLa) and breast cancer (MDA-MB-231) cells. 2-(4-chloro-3-methylphenoxy)-N'-[(4-phenylthiophen-2-yl)methylidene] acetohydrazide 3g presented the strongest growth inhibition against MKN45 gastric cancer cell lines with the IC50 value of 1.471 +/- 0.23 mu M. Moreover, compounds 3b and 3g showed high potency against the HeLa and MDA-MB-231 cell lines having IC50 in the range of 2.38-9.72 mu M. These compounds are more selective for the tested human cancer cells than for the mouse fibroblast cell line (NIH/3T3). GunizIn this work, twenty hydrazide-hydrazone and 4-thiazolidinone derivatives were synthesized starting from m-cresol. Antimicrobial evaluation was carried out by microdilution method against Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus aureus as Gram-positive bacteria and Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa as Gram-negative bacteria, and three pathogenic fungi Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis and Candida krusei. Some compounds possessed considerable antimicrobial properties against the tested microorganisms, particularly against E. coli. 4-Thiazolidinones containing 3-methoxyphenyl and 3,5-dichlorophenyl moieties (4h and 4i) were found to be the most active derivatives with MICs of 2 mu g/mL against E. coli. N'-[(3,5-dichlorophenyl)methylidene]-2-(3-methylphenoxy)acetohydrazide (3i) also displayed antifungal activity against Candida krusei that was comparable to fluconazole. Calculated drug-likeness and ADMET parameters of the most active compounds confirmed their potential as antimicrobial drug candidates. Molecular docking investigations were carried out in the thiamine diphosphate-binding site of pyruvate dehydrogenase multienzyme complex E1 component (PDHc-E1) to clarify the potential antibacterial mechanism against E. coli. Berna; Oban, Volkan; Dikec, GulThe aim of this study was to evaluate hate speech in Turkish LGBTI+-related tweets during a one-month period of artificial intelligence-based sentiment analyses. Turkish tweets related to LGBTI+, were retrieved using Python library Tweepy and were evaluated by sentiment analysis. The researchers then performed a qualitative analysis of the most frequently liked and retweeted tweets (n = 556). Sentiment analysis revealed that 69.5% of tweets were negative, 23.3% were neutral, and 7.2% were positive. The qualitative analysis was grouped under seven themes: LGBTI+ Club; Terrorism and Terrorist Organization Membership; Perversion, Illness, Immorality; Presence in History; Religious References; Insults; and Humiliation. The results of this study show that anti-LGBTI+ hate speech in Turkey is significant in terms of both quality and quantity. As LGBTI+ individuals are at risk for excess mental distress and disorders, it is important to understand the risks and other factors that ameliorate stress and contribute to mental health in social media.
