Article Determinants of Self-Efficacy in Wrestling Coaches: Psychological Resilience and Proactive Personality(Frontiers Media SA, 2026) Aksakal, Nalan; Örnek, Serda; Erkan, Mert; Terekli, Mustafa Serdar; Besiktas, Murat YalcinBackground and objective Coaching efficacy is a key psychological resource influencing coaches' professional effectiveness and leadership behaviors in sports. Identifying individual characteristics that contribute to coaching efficacy is especially important in high-demand sports like wrestling. This study aimed to examine relationships between self-efficacy, psychological resilience, and proactive personality among wrestling coaches, and to determine the predictive roles of resilience and proactive personality on coaching self-efficacy. Methods A quantitative relational survey design was employed. The sample included 116 active wrestling coaches from Eskişehir, Kütahya, Tokat, and Konya. Data were collected using the Coaching Efficacy Scale II, Psychological Resilience Scale III-R, and Short Proactive Personality Scale, all adapted into Turkish. Analyses were performed with SPSS 23.0, including Pearson correlation, multiple regression, one-way ANOVA. Results Significant positive relationships were found between coaching self-efficacy, psychological resilience, and proactive personality. Multiple regression analysis indicated that psychological resilience (beta = .42) and proactive personality (beta = .38) significantly predicted coaching self-efficacy, collectively explaining 46% of the variance (R = .68, R-2 = .46, p < .001). Conclusion Enhancing psychological resilience and proactive personality is crucial for strengthening wrestling coaches' self-efficacy perceptions. Improving these psychological resources can enhance professional effectiveness, leadership behaviors, and positively influence athletes. These findings offer valuable implications for coach education programs and applied sport psychology interventions.Article Cleats on, Battle Real: Sustainability and Gender Equality in Women’s Football(Frontiers Media SA, 2026) Aksakal, Nalan; Ornek, Serda; Erkan, Mert; Besiktas, Murat Yalcin; Terekli, Mustafa SerdarObjective This study aims to examine the rise of women's football in Turkey and the challenges faced by female footballers both on and off the field from the perspectives of gender and sustainability.Methods Conducted with a phenomenological design, the study involved semi-structured interviews with 18 female footballers playing in the Super League between June and September 2025, using a snowball sampling method. The data were analyzed thematically.Results The findings revealed that the experiences of female footballers are shaped at the intersection of individual motivation, environmental support, and structural inequalities. Participants indicated that gender biases, economic constraints, and lack of media visibility limit their career development. Inadequate facilities, scarcity of female coaches, and limited professional opportunities were also identified as key barriers.Conclusion Women's football is not only a sporting activity but also a social arena with the potential to foster gender equality and sustainable development. The development of inclusive strategies by the Turkish Football Federation and clubs-such as equal pay policies, sponsorship support, female coach training programs, and female-friendly facility arrangements-is critically important for the sustainable growth of women's football.Article Citation - WoS: 1Organizational Change and Applicability of Six Sigma Management Model in the Turkish National Soccer Team(Gdansk Univ Physical Education & Sport, 2018) Cobanoglu, Halil Orbay; Terekli, Mustafa Serdar; Gursakal, Necmi; Sever, Necip SerdarBackground: In recent years, the Six Sigma Methodology has been primarily applied to the enhancement of performance. The purpose of this study was to implement Six Sigma Management Models in the Turkish National Soccer Team. Material and methods: 24 matches of the Turkish National Soccer Team constituted the sample of research. The DMAIC method was used in this study. For statistical analysis of research data, IBM SPSS 18.0 for Windows and Minitab 17 statistical software program were used. As statistical techniques, brainstorm, fishbone, chi-square correlation analysis, Spearman correlation test, process capability analysis and control charts were used, which were the six sigma tools. The numerical values obtained were tested at P < 0.01 and P < 0.05 significance levels. Result: As a result of the research, a statistically significant correlation was found among the match outcomes of the Turkish National Soccer Team and the game formation (P = 0.04), the positive shoot rate (P = 0.03), the positive defence rate on the first zone (P = 0.00) and the positive defence rate on the second zone (P = 0.00). As a result of the improvement, the z bench value for the positive defence rate on the first zone was increased from 0.47 to 0.59. Conclusion: It can be said that the Six Sigma Management Model is applicable for coaching or training in soccer.
