Article The Relationship Between Spiritual Well-Being, Resilience, and Adherence Among Patients Receiving Hemodialysis Treatment in Türkiye(Springer, 2026) Bulbul, Elif; Sukut, Ozge; Dikec, GulThis study examined the relationship between spiritual well-being, resilience, and adherence of hemodialysis patients and the factors affecting them. The data were collected from 182 hemodialysis patients receiving treatment in a dialysis center who met the inclusion criteria by purposive sampling method in Istanbul. The data were collected with the patient description questionnaire, which measures patient sociodemographic characteristics and characteristics related to the medical diagnosis, the Spiritual Well-Being Scale, the Brief Resilience Scale, and the End-Stage Renal Failure-Adherence Questionnaire. Gender, educational status, employment status, and mean age of patients were found to be correlated with psychological resilience. Marital status, employment status, cohabitants, and mean age of patients were found to be correlated with spiritual well-being. Gender, number of weekly dialysis sessions, and dialysis competencies were found to be correlated with hemodialysis patients' adherence to their treatment. Hemodialysis patients' adherence was positively correlated with both the faith subscale of spiritual well-being and psychological resilience. According to regression analysis, gender and resilience explained 12.8% of the total variance of adherence. So rapid and accurate diagnosis is essential, requiring highly sensitive and specific tests. Biosensors can provide significant advantages over traditional diagnostic methods because of their specificity, sensitivity, speed, simplicity, ease of use, repeatability, and capacity for early-stage disease detection. Recent advances in modern diagnostic tools for detecting parasitic infections use nanomaterials such as gold nanoparticles, carbon nanofibers, and carbon nanotubes. These developments have significantly lowered detection limits to the picogram and femtogram levels. HulyaThe aim of this study was to investigate the atemporal mediating role of secondary irrational beliefs in the relationship between primary irrational beliefs and prosocial-antisocial behaviors in athletes. Ninety-two males (Mage=19.83 +/- 2.80) and 32 females (Mage=19.28 +/- 1.44), a total of 124 athletes (Mage=19.69 +/- 2.52) voluntarily participated in this study. Irrational Performance Belief Inventory-2 and Prosocial and Antisocial Behavior Scale were administered, and regression analysis was performed by using bootstrapping via PROCESS macro v4.2. Analysis indicated a significant atemporal direct effect of awfulizing belief on prosocial behaviors toward teammates and opponents. The direct effect of low frustration tolerance belief on prosocial behaviors toward opponents was also significant. Demandingness, awfulizing, and depreciation beliefs had atemporal direct effects on antisocial behaviors toward teammates. There were significant atemporal indirect effects of demandingness belief on prosocial behaviors toward teammates through awfulizing, prosocial behaviors toward opponents through low frustration tolerance, and antisocial behaviors toward teammates through low frustration tolerance and depreciation. In addition, an iterative algorithm is constructed for the numerical solution of the problem.Article Citation - WoS: 9Citation - Scopus: 7Investigation of Land Cover (lc)/Land Use (lu) Change Affecting Forest and Seminatural Ecosystems in Istanbul (turkey) Metropolitan Area Between 1990 and 2018(Springer, 2023) Bozkurt, Selvinaz Gulcin; Kusak, Lutfiye; Akkemik, UnalThis study was conducted to examine the land cover (LC)/land use (LU) change affecting forest and seminatural ecosystems and the spatio-temporal development of urban expansion between 1990 and 2018 in the city of Istanbul, where urbanization is the most intense in Turkey. For this purpose, using Corine Land Cover (1990, 2000, 2006, 2012, and 2018) dataset, the land cover of the area was determined in 5 different classes (artificial surface, agriculture, forest, water bodies, water), maps were produced, and tabular data were created. The changes in LC/LU between 1990 and 2018 were determined according to the Puyravaud land cover change rate and hot spot analysis methods. According to our findings, we determined that urbanization in Istanbul expanded the most in the east-west direction, and the agricultural and forest areas gradually decreased by 3.02% and 6.66% respectively; urban areas increased at the same rate of 9.69%. It is predicted that this change will continue increasing until 2030 when the forecasting method is applied in the field. It has been determined that the most important reasons for this situation are local government policies, population growth, and economic development initiatives applied in the area. As a result, it has emerged that measures should be taken based on sustainability and naturalness approaches to design urban development plans and to protect natural areas on a large scale, in order to limit possible LC/LU conversion from natural structure to urbanization in the area.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 4The Direct and Indirect Effects of Irrational Beliefs on Perceived Performance: The Mediation Role of Emotions and Automatic Thoughts(Springer, 2023) Urfa, Osman; Asci, Fevziye HulyaThe aim of this study was to examine the relationship between irrational beliefs and perceived performance and the atemporal mediator role of emotions and automatic thoughts in this relationship. A cross-sectional study design with a convenient sampling method was used in the study. Participants included 395 athletes from basketball, football, handball, and volleyball and consisted of 267 male (Mage = 20.73, SD = 2.37) and 128 female (Mage = 21.33, SD = 2.17) athletes who voluntarily participated in the study. Data was analyzed via a path analysis and irrational beliefs were shown to negatively predict positive emotions and positive automatic thoughts, but these beliefs positively predicted negative emotions and negative automatic thoughts. The direct effect of irrational beliefs on perceived performance was not significant, but its indirect effect on perceived performance through emotions and automatic thoughts was significant. Irrational beliefs negatively predict perceived performance through emotions and automatic thoughts. This study aims to investigate the possible effects of myrtle leaf extract (Myrtus communis L.) on, heart, kidney and aorta tissues in the experimental renovascular hypertension (RVH). 32 male Wistar Albino rats were divided into four groups as control, hypertension, hypertension+ramipril, and hypertension+myrtle leaf extract treatment groups. RVH model was induced by Goldblatt's 2-kidney 1-clip method. 12 weeks later than the treatment blood pressures were recorded and oxidant and antioxidant parameters, tissue factor activity, and histological analysis were determined in the kidney, heart, and aortic tissues. The blood pressure levels of the hypertension group significantly increased compared to the control group. Administration of myrtle leaf extract and ramipril significantly decreased the increased blood pressure. In the hypertension group, oxidative damage increased in the kidney, heart, and aorta tissues. In the histological evaluation of tissues in RVH, heart muscle fibres degenerated. Bowman capsule and glomeruli dilated and tubules damaged in the kidney. Myrtle leaf extract administration regenerated the damages and degenerations. The administration of myrtle leaf extract restored the impaired oxidant-antioxidant balance in the heart, kidney and aorta tissues of hypertensive rats. Myrtle leaf extract can be considered as an alternative antihypertensive treatment target in the prevention of oxidative stress-induced damage in renovascular hypertension.
