Article Harnessing Adaptive Urban Service Frameworks and Smart Technologies for Sustainable Urban Development in Rapidly Urbanising Cities(Elsevier, 2026) Agboola, Oluwagbemiga Paul; Uzun, Turkan Irgin; Cakir, Hulya Soydas; Soydaş Çakır, HülyaRapid urbanisation and escalating climate change impacts pose significant challenges for sustainable urban governance in developing nations, particularly where infrastructural inadequacies and resource inefficiencies persist. This study examines how urban systems in rapidly growing cities in Nigeria can utilise smart technologies to enhance resilience, inclusivity, and environmental sustainability. The study's aim is to develop and evaluate an Adaptive Urban Service Framework (AUSF) that integrates digital innovations to foster low-carbon, climate-resilient, and inclusive cities. Objectives of the study include (i) identifying adaptive urban service models that improve resource efficiency, environmental sustainability, and quality of life, and (ii) assessing the extent to which these services strengthen urban resilience and social inclusivity under demographic and infrastructural pressures. A structured survey involving 286 respondents from selected Nigerian cities was conducted, and the data were analysed using SPSS Version 22. The correlation results reveal a positive relationship between adaptive urban service mechanisms and sustainability outcomes (r = 0.987, p < 0.001), indicating that improvements in smart technologies, resource efficiency, environmental sustainability, and quality of life strongly reinforce sustainable urban performance. Similarly, experts' evaluations demonstrate a positive correlation between Adaptive Urban Services (AUS) and the enhancement of resilience and inclusivity within smart urban environments (r = 0.865, p < 0.001). These findings collectively underscore that adaptive, smart-driven frameworks exert substantial synergistic effects on environmental sustainability, social inclusivity, and urban resilience, confirming that the effective integration of smart technologies serves as a strong determinant of sustainability outcomes in rapidly urbanising Nigerian cities. The paper offers a methodology that integrates digital innovation with climate-responsive planning, which theoretically advances urban systems theory. In practical terms, it provides policymakers and urban planners with a scalable road map for implementing adaptive service solutions that connect sustainability, equity, and technology. H.Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy intervention alone (REBT-A) or with motivational interviewing (REBT + MI) on the emotions, automatic thoughts, and perceived performance of elite female volleyball players. Design: and method: Single-case, staggered multiple-baseline AB and ABC designs were adapted in the study. Five female volleyball players participated in the study, of which three players participated in the REBT-A and two players participated in the REBT + MI. The athletes were competing in the national volleyball league (Mage = 28, SD = 5.52). All participants were elite athletes with at least ten years of sports experience. Three scores (T1, T2, T3) were calculated for the athletes' perceived performance, emotion, and automatic thoughts. T1 was the baseline score calculated before the sessions. T2 was calculated after the first two sessions (the first three sessions for REBT + MI) and T3 was calculated after the last three sessions. In the data analysis, percentage changes, effect size, and visual analyzes were used in the T1, T2, and T3 scores. Results: REBT-A and REBT + MI interventions increased perceived performance, positive emotions, and positive automatic thoughts, and decreased negative emotions and negative automatic thoughts. REBT + MI was more advantageous than REBT-A in increasing positive emotion, positive automatic thought, and perceived performance. Conclusions: As a result, REBT alone or with motivational interviewing has a positive effect on perceived performance, emotions, and automatic thoughts, but REBT + MI has greater potential to increase positive constructs.Article Citation - WoS: 11Citation - Scopus: 11The Deterioration in Credibility, Destabilization of Exchange Rate and the Rise in Exchange Rate Pass-Through in Turkey(Elsevier, 2021) Gayaker, Savas; Agaslan, Erkan; Alkan, Buket; Cicek, SerkanThe early literature on inflation targeting (IT) regime argues that adopting an IT regime in itself reduces the exchange rate pass-through (ERPT). The basic logic behind this argument is that pursuing a credible and independent monetary policy will help to anchor the inflation expecta-tions and stabilize the exchange rate volatility. In this study, we investigate whether the ERPT has increased in the last decade in Turkey where the credibility of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) has deteriorated and the exchange rate uncertainty has increased due to the weakening of commitment to inflation after political pressures although the IT regime has been implementing. Employing the Phillips curve model and then applying a narrowing window analysis, we have found that the ERPT coefficient increased as the beginning of the sample ap-proaches towards the last observation, especially since 2011. To search for the reason behind this increase, we additionally employed a threshold regression method following the work of Murase (2013) which allows both possibility of non-linearity in the ERPT relationship and exogenously adding the threshold variable to the model. When the gap between inflation expectations and the inflation forecasts grows, then the credibility is considered to decrease and we found that the ERPT gets higher if the gap exceeds a certain threshold. Similarly, we have found evidence supporting that the ERPT coefficient was higher when the exchange rate uncertainty exceeded a certain threshold.Article Citation - WoS: 8Citation - Scopus: 10Lactose Hydrolyzing Activity of the Lactase Immobilized Polycaprolactone and Silk Fibroin-Based Nanofiber and Nitrocellulose Membrane(Elsevier, 2022) Yilmaz-Karaog, Sumeyye; Gurel-Gokmen, Beguem; Tunali-Akbay, Tugba; Yılmaz-Karaoğlu, SümeyyeThis study aimed to investigate the activity of lactase immobilized polycaprolactone and silk fibroin (PCL/SF)-based nanofiber and nitrocellulose membrane for the preparation of lactose-reduced milk. PCL/SF-based nanofiber was prepared by using the electrospinning method. The lactase enzyme was immobilized using the physical adsorption method on both surfaces, and then the optimum operating temperature and pH of the immobilized enzymes were determined. The efficiency of the immobilized lactase enzyme was determined in both goat and cow milk. The nutrient content of milk was also analyzed before and after the incubation of nanofiber and membrane with milk. The lactose hydrolysis efficiency of the lactase immobilized nitrocellulose membrane was found to be higher than the lactase immobilized PCL/SF-based nanofiber. Lactose was hydro-lyzed 59% in cow milk and 87% in goat milk by using lactase immobilized nitrocellulose membrane. 42% of lactose was also hydrolyzed in cow milk and 21% was hydrolyzed in goat milk by using lactase immobilized PCL/ SF-based nanofiber. However, the use of these two bioactive surfaces did not change the fat and protein composition of both cow and goat milk. In conclusion, lactase immobilized nitrocellulose membrane was found to be more advantageous in the production of lactose-reduced milk than the lactase immobilized poly-caprolactone/silk fibroin nanofiber.Article Citation - WoS: 23Citation - Scopus: 31Digital Transformation in Project-Based Manufacturing: Developing the Isa-95 Model for Vertical Integration(Elsevier, 2022) Apiliogullari, LutfiThe Smart Factory is the intelligent management of all business operations that aims to produce innovative products in the most efficient and faster way through the cyber-physical system (CPS). CPS integrates the cyber (IT) and the physical world (OT) through the hierarchical layers of ISA-95 model and forms the backbone of Industry 4.0. The CPS plays a crucial role in transforming data from interconnected systems, and it is a pre-requisite for the entire system to be able to interact. The ISA-95 model consists of components that can be used to determine how the interaction between domains vertically within the facility. However, the current ISA-95 Model does not include all the components that need to be integrated in vertical integration of all domains. The product domain is one of them. All IT and OT components need to be represented in the ISA-95 layers to achieve an ideal CPS structure. In this study, all components needed to achieve the ideal CPS structure have been identified in an expanded ISA-95 Model for project-based manufacturers. An extended ISA-95 model is proposed so that each manufacturing industry can use it in the digital transformation process by adding a product domain and connectivity layer to the Model. The Model was tested and confirmed, by conducting a case study which was based on implementing the vertical integration on it. This model helps businesses to develop more effective digital transformation strategies by defining where they should focus on or from where they should start the digital transformation processes.
