(MC) extract on a high fat diet (HFD)-induced testicular injury in a rat model were investigated using histological and biochemical methods. Wistar albino rats were divided into three groups: a standard diet control group; a HFD group; and an HFD+MC group. The HFD and HFD+MC groups were fed with a HFD for 16 weeks. MC extract (100 mg/kg) was given orally five days a week to the rats in the HFD+MC group during the last four weeks of the experiment. Leptin, triglyceride, high-density lipoproteins, cholesterol, estrogen, testosterone, LH and FSH were analyzed in blood serum. Sperm parameters were evaluated from the epididymis. Testicular morphology, proliferative, apoptotic and NADPH oxidase-2 (NOX2)-positive cells were evaluated histologically. Testicular oxidative stress parameters were analyzed biochemically. In the HFD group, lipid and hormone profiles were changed, abnormal spermatozoa, degenerated seminiferous tubules with apoptotic and NOX2-positive cells were increased in number, and sperm motility and germinal proliferative cells decreased compared to the control group. Moreover, testicular malondialdehyde, 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine and myeloperoxidase levels increased, whereas glutathione and superoxide dismutase levels decreased in the HFD group compared to the control group. All these histological and biochemical features were ameliorated by MC treatment of HFD-fed rats. In conclusion, HFD caused alterations in sperm parameters and testicular morphology by increasing oxidative damage and apoptosis. The formal solution is obtained by the Fourier approximation. Under some natural regularity and consistency conditions on the input data,the existence, uniqueness and continuously dependence upon the data of the solution are proved by iteration method. The inverse problem is first examined by linearization and then used implicit finite difference scheme for the numerical solution. Also predictor corrector method is considered in the numerical approach. Some results on the numerical solution with two examples are presented with figures and tables. The purposes of this study were to: a) determine the acute effect of kinesio tape (KT) application on the ankle joint on balance performance, b) investigate the effects of an 8-week proprioceptive-neuromuscular (PN) training program on balance performance, and c) compare their effects vs modern dance technique classes alone. Thirty-three trained, university-level modern dance students (9 male, 24 female) were divided randomly into three groups: kinesio tape (KT, n=11), proprioceptive-neuromuscular (PN, n=11), or control (n=11). Static (turn-out passe-opened eyes/releve and turn-out passe-closed eyes/flat foot), semi-dynamic (airplane), and dynamic balance (monopodalic-straight and -transverse in a turn-out passe-eyes opened/flat foot) tests were performed before and after the intervention. One day after pre-tests, KT mechanical correction technique was applied to the left ankle joint (supporting leg) in the KT group, and tests were repeated to determine the acute effect of KT. The PN group participated in an 8-week balance training program (2 days/wk, 60 min/day) involving exercises using stable and unstable surfaces. Significant improvements were observed for all static and dynamic balance tests in the PN group; semi-dynamic airplane and dynamic monopodalic-straight and transverse tests improved in the KT group; and only semi-dynamic airplane test scores changed significantly for the control group (p<0.05). However, it has been unclear whether there could be differences between both treatments in early clinical outcomes. It can help physiotherapists to guide in choosing treatment approaches. This study aimed to compare kinesiophobia, pain, range of motion (ROM), shoulder function, and Quality of life (QoL) in patients treated with either conservative (CT) versus surgical (ST) after PHF. In addition, it aimed to determine correlations between fear of movement and seconder outcome measures. This cross-sectional study enrolled the patients having 5-6 weeks (being permitted active movement) after being treated either CT or ST and receiving no physical therapy. Pain, passive and active ROMs, shoulder function, fear of movement, and QoL were evaluated. 42 patients were recruited. Kinesiophobia scores were similar (p=0.55) and moderate in both groups. There was a significant difference in degrees of shoulder active flexion, active and passive abduction in favor of the CT group (p=0.05, p=0.02, p=0.04, respectively). However, there was no difference between groups regarding the remaining clinical outcomes. Furthermore, kinesiophobia showed a moderate negative correlation with energy/fatigue, social functioning, and general health. These findings showed that patients treated surgically did not have more kinesiophobia, less function, and QoL before starting physiotherapy, despite having soft tissue damage and different types of fractures. A total of 102 couples participated in this cross-sectional study, with 68 couples in the spontaneous conception group and 34 couples in the ART group. Data collection was conducted face-to-face in the antenatal clinic using separate "Descriptive Information Form" for women and men, "Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI)" for women, and "Libido Scoring System (LSS)" for men. Descriptive statistical methods, Chi-square and Fisher exact tests, t-test, and Pearson correlation test were used for data analysis. It was observed that the mean FSFI total scores of women who conceived spontaneously and through ART during pregnancy were at a good level (>= 30), while the mean LSS scores of their partners were at a moderate level (5-7). No statistically significant distinction existed among the groups. Therefore, it is possible to identify some of the central nervous diseases when somatosensory on the fingertip is stimulated and responses are recorded and analyzed. We designed a system to stimulate the mechanoreceptors on fingertips. It is composed of a mechanical system for fingertip stimulation, an embedded controller, a control computer, and a software to control overall operation. During test, mechanoreceptors are stimulated according to the test protocols. Individuals' answers are recorded to be evaluated by the developed software. In this study, several design approaches for embedded controller were also examined and an FPGA based controller with the same functionality but higher performance was implemented. A cross-sectional study design with a convenient sampling method was used in the study. Participants included 395 athletes from basketball, football, handball, and volleyball and consisted of 267 male (Mage = 20.73, SD = 2.37) and 128 female (Mage = 21.33, SD = 2.17) athletes who voluntarily participated in the study. Data was analyzed via a path analysis and irrational beliefs were shown to negatively predict positive emotions and positive automatic thoughts, but these beliefs positively predicted negative emotions and negative automatic thoughts. The direct effect of irrational beliefs on perceived performance was not significant, but its indirect effect on perceived performance through emotions and automatic thoughts was significant. Irrational beliefs negatively predict perceived performance through emotions and automatic thoughts. Understanding the severity of the disease from the parents' perspective can lead to better patient outcomes, improving both the child's health -related quality of life and the family's quality of life. The implementation of 3 -dimensional (3D) modeling technology in care is critical from a translational science perspective. Aim. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of 3D modeling on family quality of life, surgical success, and patient outcomes in congenital heart diseases. Additionally, we aim to identify challenges and potential solutions related to this innovative technology. Methods. The study is a two -group pretest -posttest randomized controlled trial protocol. The sample size is 15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group. The experimental group's heart models will be made from their own computed tomography (CT) images and printed using a 3D printer. The experimental group will receive surgical simulation and preoperative parent education with their 3D heart model. The control group will receive the same parent education using the standard anatomical model. Both groups will complete the Sociodemographic Information Form, the Surgical Simulation Evaluation Form - Part I -II, and the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) Family Impacts Module. The primary outcome of the research is the average PedsQL Family Impacts Module score. Secondary outcome measurement includes surgical success and patient outcomes. Separate analyses will be conducted for each outcome and compared between the intervention and control groups. Conclusions. The questionnaire consisted of a patient information form, sexual quality of life scale-female, and diabetes self-management perception scale.Results:There was a significant relationship between diabetes self-management perception and sexual quality of life (P = 0.000). The individuals' diabetes self-management perception scores differed significantly according to their age (F = 3.12; P = 0.047), and the sexual quality of life scores differed significantly according to their treatment type (F = 4.01; P = 0.020).Conclusion:There is a relationship between quality of sexual life and self-management perceptions of women with type 2 DM. As the quality of sexual life increases, diabetes self-management perceptions increase. Materials and Methods This study was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guideline statement. The randomized controlled studies which published from January 2000 to May 2022 were searched in the PubMed, Web of Science, MEDLINE, Scopus, and Cochrane Library databases. Inclusion criteria were healthy clinical population or musculoskeletal pathology related to the upper extremity, participants aged 18 and above, application of blood flow restriction to the arm, a randomized controlled study design, and publication in English. Additionally, the presentation of upper extremity muscle strength as an outcome measurement was required. The quality of the studies was evaluated using The Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale. Articles that were non-randomized, inaccessible in full text, and scored 4 or below on the PEDro scale were excluded. Results Five studies were included with 219 participants. The included studies had PEDro scores ranging from 5 to 8, with an average score of 6.4. This review demonstrated a positive or neutral effect of BFRT on grip strength and shoulder strength. Conclusion Although some studies have reported positive effects of BFRT on upper extremity muscle strength, there is no conclusive evidence regarding the protocol to be used for increasing upper extremity muscle strength.Review Citation Count: 0Effectiveness of Non-Invasive Vagal Nerve Stimulation in Parkinson's Disease: a Comprehensive Systematic Review And Meta-analysis(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2025) Abouelmagd, Moaz Elsayed; Yousef, Obai; Ibrahim, Ismail A.; Elshahat, AhmedBackground: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a debilitating neurodegenerative disorder characterized by movement impairments. Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) is a non-invasive brain stimulation technique that has shown promise in treating various neurological conditions, including PD. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the existing evidence on the efficacy of nVNS in managing PD symptoms. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify relevant studies published up to July 2024. The included studies investigated the effect of nVNS on various PD motor symptoms. The quality of studies was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias 2 (ROB-2) and NIH tool for RCTs, single-arm studies, and case series studies respectively. Statistical analysis was conducted using Review Manager version 5.4.1 with outcomes expressed as Mean differences (MD) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). Results: The systematic review included eight randomized controlled trials (RCTs), one single-arm study, and one case series, encompassing a total of 217 patients with PD. The review revealed that nVNS in increasing Freezing of Gait (FOG) in PD (p = 0.04). However, no significant differences were found in UPDRS-III (p = 0.19 and p = 0.89 for on and off-medication conditions, respectively), UPDRS-II (p = 0.9), UPDRS-I (p = 0.46), Time Up and Go (p = 0.61), stand time (p = 0.87), walking speed (p = 0.22), or step length measured in meters (p = 0.8). Interestingly, a significant improvement was observed in step length measured in centimetres (p = 0.0005). No study reported serious adverse effects associated with nVNS treatment. Conclusion: Our finding suggests a potential benefit of nVNS in reducing FOG in PD, but did not demonstrate a significant improvement in other motor symptoms. Larger, longer follow-up studies are needed to confirm the effect nVNS on PD management. Given the relevant studies, it has been seen that people with chronic ankle instability (CAI) commonly have deficits in joint position sense and reinjury risks. Joint position sense plays an important role in ankle control, thereby reducing the risk of injury. Therefore, this study aims to compare the effects of balance and strength training on ankle proprioception in people with CAI. Methods: This single-blind randomized controlled study included 29 volunteer participants (21 women and eight men) aged 18 to 30 years. Participants with a Cumberland ankle instability scale score less than or equal to 24 were randomly divided into two treatment groups: strength training (n = 14) and balance training (n = 15). Y balance test, joint position, and vibration sense were evaluated at the beginning and end of the treatment. "Hop to stabilization" exercises were applied to the balance group and resistive bands exercises to the strength group, which were performed for 6 weeks, 35 minutes per day, two times per week. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in the anterior, posterolateral, and posteromedial directions of the Y balance test (P = .89, P = .50, and P = .34, respectively), but the strength training group showed significant improvement in ankle proprioception (140 degrees) and vibration sense (fifth finger) (P < .001), and the post hoc Cohen's d effect size values were medium (.52) and small (.25), respectively. Conclusions: The findings of this study show that strengthening and balance exercises have similar effects on dynamic balance, but strengthening exercises are more effective in improving joint position and vibration sense. The IG performed exercises using the BBS twice weekly for 8 weeks, while CG were informed regarding diabetes self-management. At baseline and after study completion, participants underwent balance (postural stability and fall risk) and neuropathic pain assessment (DN4 questionnaire) and were screened using the Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument and nerve conduction test. Results: Among the baseline participants, 14 in the IG and 13 in the CG completed the study. Balance training improved postural stability (overall, p<0.001), fall risk (p<0.001), neuropathic pain (p=0.01) and symptoms (p<0.001), and clinical presentation (p=0.02), but not nerve function, within the IG. At follow-up, IG displayed significantly improved stability (p<0.001) and fall risk (p=0.02) and decreased neuropathic symptoms (p=0.01) compared to the CG. Conclusion: Computer-based balance exercises improve balance, pain, and clinical presentation of DPN, but not nerve function, in patients with DPN. It was aimed to examine the overall role of cold ischemia time and anhepatic phase durations in terms of peroperative blood transfusion needs, hospital stay conditions and postoperative charges, and survival in recipients. Material and Methods. One hundred forty-eight adult living donor liver transplant recipients (18 years and older) were included in the study. Whether the anhepatic phase and cold ischemia duration have an effect on the rates of surgery time, blood product transfusion, total hospital and intensive care unit stay, postoperative biliary complications, hepatic vein thrombosis, portal vein thrombosis, early postoperative bleeding, sepsis, and primary graft dysfunction. Was analyzed statistically. In addition, the effect of the anhepatic phase and cold ischemia time on graft survival was statistically examined by creating an average of the patient follow-up period. Results. It was observed that the operation time increased statistically as the cold ischemia time increased (P P = .000). No statistically significant fi cant relationship was found between other fi nd- ings and cold ischemia time and anhepatic phase. Conclusion. The study involved a total of 21 young males playing with amateur soccer licenses for at least 2 years divided into three groups. One group received S + HIIT training, second group received S + HIFT training and the control group continued their soccer-specific training. Both the experimental and the control groups underwent pre- and post-tests and while only the experimental groups underwent an eight-week training program. Pre- and post-tests of the all the participants included measurements of body composition, adaptation studies, trial measurements, biochemical blood, aerobic endurance measurements, sprint tests, and strength measurements. The Mixed Design ANOVA analysis was utilized to examine the performance, physiological, and biochemical data of the participants before and after the experiment. Concurrent training models were effective in increasing athletic performance (VO2max, CMJ, 1RM bench press and Yo-Yo test) and physiological outcomes during recovery (HR, blood lactate, Borg Scale) compared to the control group with traditional training. There was no significant difference between the biochemical changes in the S + HIIT, S + HIFT and control groups during the trial period. Methods and Materials: To compare the radiobiological effect on DU-145 cell line four experiments designed: (1) the constant dose rate of 6 MV and 6 MV FFF with increased dose per pulse (2) the effect of dose per pulse while increasing instantaneous dose rate for 6 MV and 6 MV FFF, (3) the effect of increased average dose rate for 6 MV FFF and (4) the effect of protracted treatment time and modulation of 6 MV FFF beams. The survival fraction was counted with WST. Results: FF and FFF for 6 MV with same dose rate and treatment time has no effect on cell survival. Significant differences was observed on survival which were irradiated with 6 MV 600 MU/min and 6 MV FFF 1400 MU/min (p=0.024). There was no difference between 6 MV FFF 600 MU/min and 6 MV FFF 1400 MU/min for 10 Gy. The significant survival difference obtained for 20 Gy. The survival percentages for both 10 Gy and 20 Gy with Cyberknife were obtained higher than FFF. Conclusion: Our in-vitro study presented here show that higher dose rate and reduced treatment time might become a crucial factor for SBRT especially which has >10 Gy fraction dose. © 2021 Novin Medical Radiation Institute.
