This study compares the chemical composition and the antioxidant, antidiabetic, and antimicrobialproperties of ethanol extracts of G. glabra L. two different varieties from different regions. The phytochemicalcompositions was determined using GC-MS. Additionaly, total phenolic (TPC), flavonoid (TFC) and triterpene (TTC)contents were determined. Glycyrrhizic acid contents were analysed by HPLC. G. glabra var. glandulifera (GF1) showedthe highest antioxidant activity. All extracts had strong antidiabetic effects, besides GF1 showing the highest effect. TheMIC values was determined against 8 bacterial and 1 yeast strain and values ranged from 2.500 to 0.500; 2.500 to 0.714;2.500 to 0.714 for G. glabra var. glabra (GB), GF1, G. glabra var. glandulifera (GF2) respectively. Phytochemical studies haveshown that TPC was 100.60±5.06, 127.90±0.30, 69.01±0.30 mg GAE /g extract; TFC was 80.07±0.15, 25.35±0.0, 16.58±0.31mg KE/g and TTC was 217.30±6.05,172.40±2.17, 126.30±4.50 mg OE/g extract for GB, GF1, GF2, respectively. GF1 inparticular has the highest glycyrrhizic acid content. This study will contribute to the creation of new treatment strategiesand potential therapeutic agents in addition to the use of G. glabra L. in traditional treatments. Materials and Methods: Male Wistar albino rats were divided into control (CNT), high-fat diet (HFD) and HFD+APO groups. HFD and HFD+APO groups were fed HFD for sixteen weeks. APO (25 mg/kg) was administered to the HFD+APO group for the last four weeks. The effects of APO on: AS-related metabolic parameters (triglyceride, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, insulin and leptin), oxidative stress (OS), [ malondialdehyde, glutathione, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH)oxidase-2, oxidised-low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine], low-density lipoprotein and ox-LDL uptake potential (activin receptor-like kinase-1 and lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1, respectively), tissue inflammation inducible-nitric oxide synthase, nitric oxide), programmed cell death (terminal deoxynucleotidyl-transferase-dUTP-nick-end (alpha-smooth muscle actin), histology and ultrastructure of thoracic aorta were evaluated. Results: In obesity, APO had an ameliorative effect on metabolic parameters, OS, inflammation, ED, programmed cell death and oxLDL uptake potential, but not on foam cell formation and LDL uptake potential. Conclusion: Apocynin may improve ED and AS in obesity by suppressing OS-linked factors involved in the early stage of AS.Article Assessments of Energy, Macro and Micronutrient Intakes in Children and Adolescents With Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus(Marmara Univ, Fac Medicine, 2023) Ozkaya, Volkan; Ozkaya, Sebnem OzgenObjective: This study aims at examining dietary intake in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM) and comparing the results with national dietary intake recommendations. Patients and Methods: One hundred fifty children and adolescents (52.7% female) with an average age of 12.2 +/- 3.1 years and with type 1 DM who were followed by the Pediatric Endocrinology Polyclinic participated in the study. Three-day food intake records and clinical information regarding the type 1 DM condition of the participants were obtained. Results: No gender-related significant difference was found among the participants regarding food intake. The percentage of energy derived from fat (average 39.6%) and saturated fat (16.1%) were higher than the recommended levels in both gender groups. The percentage of energy derived from carbohydrates (female 44.1 +/- 5.7%, male 43.0 +/- 6.8%) was below the recommended levels. The dietary fiber intake in children aged 6-10 years with type 1 DM met recommendations, whereas, it was below the recommended levels in other age groups. Micronutrient inadequacy was common in children and adolescents with type 1 DM. Conclusions: The authors believe that guidelines and programs are needed for children and adolescents with type 1 DM to reduce total fat and saturated fat intake, increase carbohydrate and dietary fiber intake up to the recommended levels, and prevent multiple micronutrient inadequacies.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 4Association Between Carbohydrate Quality Index and Dietary Patterns, Sleep Quality, Anxiety Level, and Depression Symptoms: a Cross-Sectional Study(Soc Chilena Nutricion, Bromatologia & Toxicologia, 2022) Yuksel, Aysun; Yilmaz-Onal, Hulya; Basturk, Berrak; Yalcin, BaharAim: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between carbohydrate quality and sleep quality, depression, anxiety, stress and anthropometric measurements. Methods: The carbohydrate quality was calculated using the total fiber intake, ratio of whole grains to total grains, the ratio of solid carbohydrates to total carbohydrates, and the glycemic index. Sleep status was determined using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and nutritional status was determined by taking a 1-day food consumption record and food consumption frequency. Results: It was found that 20% of the participants with the highest carbohydrate quality had the highest sleep quality and the lowest body mass index. Conclusion: Adults should be informed that the quality of carbohydrates that they consume, was associated with better sleep quality and some micronutrients (potassium, magnesium, vitamin A-D-K-C-81-86, Folate) but no significant correlation was found between anxiety, depression, and stress scoresArticle Citation - WoS: 2Bibliometric Analysis of Publications on Stigmatization in Psychiatric Nursing Literature(Kare Publ, 2024) Dikec, Gul; Saritas, Merve; Oban, VolkanObjectives: In the past two decades, the number of publications on stigma has increased in the literature. This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of publications related to stigmatization in the psychiatric nursing literature. Methods: In this study, a search was performed on the PubMed database on September 11, 2022, with the Medical Searching Terms "(Stigmatization [Title OR Abstract] OR Social Stigma [Title OR Abstract]) OR (Stigma [Title OR Abstract] OR Stereotyping [Title OR Abstract] OR Discrimination [Title OR Abstract]) AND (Psychiatric Nursing [Title OR Abstract] OR Nursing [Title OR Abstract])." Between 1990 and 2022, 10,571 studies published in English, available in full text, and published in journals indexed with SCI, SSCI, and ESCI were found. Results: The number of published articles reached the highest number in 2020, with an increase of 4.05 times in 30 years; it was determined that 92.8% of the publications were of the descriptive study, and Happell was the most productive author in this field. Frequently, articles were published in the Journal of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (n=762), Journal of Psychosocial Nursing and Mental Health Services (n=550), International Journal of Mental Health Nursing (n=480), Issues in Mental Health Nursing (n=445), and Journal of Advanced Nursing (n=429). It was determined that the top five most frequently repeated keywords were humans, female, psychiatric nursing, male, and adult, respectively. Conclusion: The findings obtained from this study can provide information about the number of publications, research types, researchers, and institutions, as well as give ideas for new research strategies in psychiatric nursing literature. Dağdeviren; Şener, Göksel; Ercan, FerihaObjective: Methotrexate (MTX) is a drug commonly used for the treatment of malign neoplastic and inflammatory diseases. Anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of bitter melon (BM) were reported. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of BM fruit extract on MTX-induced testicular and epididymal damage. Materials and Methods: Sprague Dawley male rats were divided into three groups (n=8) as control, MTX and MTX+BM. A single dose of MTX (20 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally to the MTX and MTX+BM groups. BM fruit extract (600 mg/kg) was applied to the MTX+BM group orally for 5 days. Testes were examined for general histopathology, proliferating and apoptotic cells. The epididymis samples were used for the evaluation of sperm morphology. Oxidative and inflammatory markers were analysed biochemically. Results: Increased abnormal spermatozoa, degenerated seminiferous tubules with increased apoptotic cells and decreased proliferative cells were observed in the MTX group. TNF-α, IL-1β, 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine and caspase-3 levels increased, superoxide dismutase and catalase levels decreased in both testis and epididymis samples. All these histological and biochemical parameters were ameliorated in the MTX+BM group. Conclusion: Methotrexate causes testis damage by decreasing spermatogenic cells and increasing apoptosis through oxidative stress and inflammation. This study aimed to investigate the changes in the brain after EX and/or CR in metabolic syndrome (MeS) induced by a high fructose diet in rats. Sprague-Dawley male rats were divided into five groups. Drinking water including 10% fructose solution was given to rats for 12 weeks to develop a MeS rat model. Animals with MeS were submitted to EX and/or CR for 6 weeks. Blood glucose, and brain tissue damage and antioxidant parameters were measured. Brain lipid peroxidation, sialic acid, mucin, fucose levels increased in the MeS group compared to the control (C) group. These parameters reduced significantly in the metabolic syndrome with caloric restriction (MeS+CR) group, and more significantly in the metabolic syndrome with exercise and caloric restriction group (MeS+EXCR), compared to the MeS group. Glutathione levels, superoxide dismutase and catalase activities decreased in the MeS group compared to the C group, increased both in the MeS+CR group, and MeS+EXCR group compared to the MeS group. High fructose diet consumption can lead to brain tissue damage and decreased antioxidant levels were found to be improved best in the MeS+EXCR group.Article The Challenges Experienced by International Nursing Students in Nursing Education: a Qualitative Study(Ataturk Univ, 2024) Elmali Simsek, Hulya; Karali, Ece; Arslan, GunayObjective: The study aimed to determine the challenges experienced by international nursing undergraduate students during their education period. Methods: A phenomenological research design was used. The study was conducted with 20 international nursing students enrolled in a foundation university in T & uuml;rkiye. Colaizzi's phenomenological data analysis method was employed in the study. Results: Based on the study's results, three main themes, 'Learning in a different environment', 'Challenges', 'Solution-Non Solution' and 'System difference, Language problems in clinical practice, Broad nursing curriculum, Facilitators, Language barrier, Feeling homesick, Racism and discrimination, Housing difficulties, Lack of funding, Instant solution, Failing to find a solution sub-themes themes were created. Conclusion: It has been observed that students experience different environments, uncertainties, and various challenges, and that these situations directly affect their education and success. Razak; Altun, S.Fear of movement, pain, and loss of shoulder function are the most common problems irrespective of their approach to management after proximal humeral fracture (PHF). However, it has been unclear whether there could be differences between both treatments in early clinical outcomes. It can help physiotherapists to guide in choosing treatment approaches. This study aimed to compare kinesiophobia, pain, range of motion (ROM), shoulder function, and Quality of life (QoL) in patients treated with either conservative (CT) versus surgical (ST) after PHF. In addition, it aimed to determine correlations between fear of movement and seconder outcome measures. This cross-sectional study enrolled the patients having 5-6 weeks (being permitted active movement) after being treated either CT or ST and receiving no physical therapy. Pain, passive and active ROMs, shoulder function, fear of movement, and QoL were evaluated. 42 patients were recruited. Kinesiophobia scores were similar (p=0.55) and moderate in both groups. There was a significant difference in degrees of shoulder active flexion, active and passive abduction in favor of the CT group (p=0.05, p=0.02, p=0.04, respectively). However, there was no difference between groups regarding the remaining clinical outcomes. Furthermore, kinesiophobia showed a moderate negative correlation with energy/fatigue, social functioning, and general health. These findings showed that patients treated surgically did not have more kinesiophobia, less function, and QoL before starting physiotherapy, despite having soft tissue damage and different types of fractures. However, surgically treated patients had significantly less range of motion.Article Comparison of HLA-G Levels for Cord Blood Derived-MSC and Wharton's Jelly Derived-MSC(Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2025) Abatay Sel, Figen; Erol Bozkurt, Ayse; Karatas, Sule; Suleymanoglu, Mediha; Yasa, Beril; Yasa, Cenk; Savran Oguz, FatmaObjectives: A special group of stem cells with multipotent and immunomodulatory properties are mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Many modulatory factors are thought to mediate immunomodulatory properties of MSCs. One of these modulatory factors is thought to be HLA-G, one of human leukocyte antigens (HLA). This study aimed to compare HLA-G levels in both stimulated and unstimulated of peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) cultures with "cord blood-MSC" (CB-MSC) and "Wharton's jelly-MSC" (WJ-MSC) at different rates and different incubation periods. Methods: WJ-MSCs were obtained by explant method, and CB-MSCs using Ficoll-paque. They were characterized by flow cytometry. MSCs and PBMCs were directly co-cultured for 24 and 72 h at 1:5 and 1:10, respectively. After incubations, the media were collected and HLA-G levels were measured by ELISA. Results: In the unstimulated group, the highest HLA-G level was found in the PBMC:WJ-MSC-72-1:5 group, while the lowest HLA-G level was found in the PBMC:CB-MSC-72-1:5. When 24-1:5 and 72-1:5 groups were examined, the HLA-G level decreased significantly in CB-MSC groups compared to WJ-MSC, while it increased significantly in the 24-1:10 and 72-1:10 groups (p<0.05). In stimulated groups, the highest HLA-G level was observed in the PBMC:CB-MSC-24-1:5. Conclusions: Our study aimed to evaluate the immunomodulatory effect of MSCs via HLA-G molecule. HLA-G levels changed with different incubation times of two different MSC sources. Methods: In this cross-sectional observational study, a total of 107 participants were divided into four subgroups based on gender and age: females 18-25 years (G1), and 26-35 years (G2), and males 18-25 years (G3), and 26-35 years (G4). Participants completed the timed up and go test (TUG), 4 meter gait speed test, 10 meter walk test (10MWT), timed 25-foot walk test, and 1 minute sit-to-stand test (1MSTS) with and without dual-tasks. The mean value of each test was recorded. Results: Significant differences were observed in some functional tests. TUG was longer in G1 compared to G2 (p=0.019), 10MWT dual-task performance differed between G1 and G3 (p=0.041), and 1MSTS and 1MSTSdual scores were higher in G3 compared to G4 (p=0.044 and p=0.035, respectively). All dual-task conditions led to decreased performance compared to single-task conditions (p<0.001) Conclusion: The dual-task added to the performance tests changes the time, speed, and number of repetitions in healthy individuals, and these effects may vary according to age and gender. These reference values can guide clinical assessments of dual-task performance in this population.Article Determination of Post-Earthquake Trauma Level and Investigation of the Relationship with Physical Activity Status(Turkish Physiotherapy Association, 2025) Tosun, Anil; Yılmaz, Nergis; Luque, Demet Tekın De Las PenasAmaç: Çalışmanın amacı; 06 Şubat 2023’te meydana gelen Pazarcık-Elbistan merkezli depremler sebebiyle kişilerde oluşan travma düzeyinin, kişinin fiziksel aktivite durumu ile ilişkisini incelemektir. Aynı zamanda, kişilerde deprem sonrası ağrı varlığının sorgulanması ve bu durumun travma düzeyi ile ilişkisini ortaya koymaktır. Yöntem: Veriler çevrimiçi olarak Google formları aracılığıyla toplandı, 18-65 yaş arası 388 gönüllü katılımcı (299 kadın, 89 erkek) çalışmaya dahil edildi. Katılımcıların genel özelliklerini belirlemek için “Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu”, travma düzeyini değerlendirmek için “Deprem Sonrası Travma Düzeyini Belirleme Ölçeği” (DSTDBÖ) ve fiziksel aktivite durumlarını belirlemek için “Uluslararası Fiziksel Aktivite Anketi Kısa Formu” (IPAQ-KF) kullanıldı. Bulgular: Deprem bölgesinde bulunma durumuna göre DSTDBÖ genel puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı fark saptandı (p<0,001). Deprem bölgesinde bulunan 126 kişinin DSTDBÖ genel puan ortalaması 57,66±19,87 iken, bölgede bulunmayan 262 kişinin ortalaması 49,00±18,49 olarak bulundu. Spearman korelasyon analiziyle deprem bölgesinde olan ve olmayan bireylerin IPAQ-KF toplam puanları, DSTDBÖ alt faktör ve toplam puanları arasındaki ilişki incelenmiş olup sadece “Bilişsel Yapılandırma” alt faktörü ile IPAQ-KF toplam puanları arasında anlamlı bir ilişkiyi yansıtmayan negatif zayıf ilişki bulundu (deprem bölgesinde olanlar için Spearman korelasyon katsayı değeri =-0,18, p=0,042). Ve deprem sonrası ağrı yaşayan bireylerin DSTDBÖ puanları, ağrı yaşamayanlardan daha yüksek olarak saptandı (p=0,000). Sonuç: Bu çalışma ile deprem sonrası travma düzeyinin, fiziksel aktivite ile negatif ilişki gösterdiği belirlendi. İnaktif bireyler daha yüksek travma düzeylerine sahipken, minimal aktif bireylerde travma düzeyleri daha düşük bulundu. Bu bulgular, deprem sonrası fiziksel aktivitenin artırılmasının travma düzeylerini azaltmada etkili bir strateji olabileceğini göstermektedir. Bu alanda daha fazla araştırma, eğitim ve proje çalışmalarının yapılması gerekmektedir.Article Development and Psychometric Properties of the Home Programme Quality Evaluation Tool for Therapists, Clients and Caregivers: A Validity and Reliability Study(MA Healthcare Ltd, 2025) Akyurek, Gokcen; Bektas, Selen Aydoner; Sipahi, BusraBackground/Aims Home programmes - where rehabilitation activities are carried out in the client's home - are frequently used in the rehabilitation process but there are no standardised measurements to assess preparation, delivery and quality. The aim of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of two different forms - one for therapists and one for client and caregivers - that were developed as part of the Home Programme Quality Evaluation tool. Methods Initially, two 38-item forms were created based on a comprehensive literature review and expert panel evaluation. These forms were piloted with 30 participants from each target group to assess grammatical clarity, comprehensibility and cultural appropriateness. Based on the pilot feedback, minor linguistic adjustments were made, and the refined 38-item forms were then administered to 179 physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists, and 185 clients/caregivers (100 clients, 85 caregivers) for psychometric analyses. Psychometric analyses were conducted to evaluate validity and reliability, including exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses (chi-square/degree of freedom ratio, Goodness-of-Fit Index, Tucker-Lewis Index, Comparative Fit Index, Incremental Fit Index, root mean square error of approximation, standardised root mean square residual and internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) and test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient and Pearson correlation). Results Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses supported a one-factor structure for both forms, resulting in the final 11-item therapist form and 8-item client/caregiver form. The Home Programme Quality Evaluation tool demonstrated a good model fit for both forms (therapist form: chi(2)/df=2.66, goodness-of-fit index=0.909, Tucker-Lewis Index=0.886, standardised root mean square residual=0.060; client/caregiver form: chi(2)/df=3.37, goodness-of-fit index=0.929, Tucker-Lewis Index=0.950, standardised root mean square residual=0.027). Cronbach's alpha was 0.868 for the therapist form and 0.932 for the client/caregiver form. Test-retest reliability revealed strong positive correlations (r=0.994, P<0.001; r=0.998, P<0.001) and excellent stability over time (intraclass correlation coefficient=0.998 and 0.990, respectively). Conclusions The Home Programme Quality Evaluation's therapist and client/caregiver forms were found to have strong validity and reliability. The therapist form can enable therapists to monitor themselves, while the client and caregiver form can help clients or caregivers provide feedback on the home programme. Future studies can explore its application across different clinical populations and rehabilitation settings to further refine and optimise home-based interventions. Implications for practice For allied health professionals, the Home Programme Quality Evaluation tool serves as a practical tool for improving home programme design and implementation. By systematically assessing home programme quality, therapists can identify areas for improvement, ensuring that programmes are clear, feasible and well-integrated into the daily life of clients and their caregivers. Integrating the Home Programme Quality Evaluation tool into routine clinical practice can contribute to more effective rehabilitation outcomes, promoting structured, high-quality home programmes that align with the needs and capabilities of both clients and caregivers.Article Development and Psychometric Properties of the Self-Efficacy Scale for Symptom Management and Self-Care in Patients with Cardiac Surgery(Springer Publishing Co, 2025) Aksut, Rabia Saglam; Capik, Canturk; Elmas, Tugce BozkurtBackground and Purpose: Evaluating self-efficacy for symptom management and self-care is crucial for ensuring follow-up care after cardiac surgery. As there is not yet a validated measurement tool for this evaluation, the aim of this study was to develop the Self-Efficacy Scale for Symptom Management and Self-Care (SESMSC: Cardiac Surgery) in patients with cardiac surgery and to examine its psychometric properties. Methods: The Symptom Management Theory and Bandura's Self-Efficacy Theory were used as the theoretical background for scale development. A multiphase design was utilized. The initial development phase consisted of item generation and expert panel review. The second phase comprised a three-step validation process: (a) face and content analysis (CFA) for construct validity, and (c) Cronbach's alpha, test-retest, and item- total correlation analysis to assess internal consistency reliability. The sample (n = 401) was randomly divided into two subsamples for EFA and CFA (EFA group: n = 201; CFA group: n = 200). Results: EFA suggested a 20-item, two-factor structure with factor loadings of .342-.782. The two subscales of the scale were labeled symptom management self-efficacy and self-efficacy for ch's alpha, test-retest, and item-total correlation results demonstrated acceptable internal consistency reliability. Implications for Practice: The SESMSC: Cardiac Surgery may be a useful tool to evaluate self-efficacy for symptom management and self-care after cardiac surgery. Also, phenolic compounds of C. coggygria were characterised by LC-MS/MS. Wistar albino rats weighing 200-250 g were exposed to 90 degrees C bath for 10 s to induce burn injury, involving 30% of the total body surface area. In the treatment groups, 5% C. coggygria ethanol extract was applied topically as a cream immediately after the burn. Blood and skin tissue samples were taken after decapitation at the 4th and 48th hours following the burn procedure. Interleukin 1-beta (IL-1 beta) and tumour necrosis factor (TNF-alpha) were determined in serum samples, and hydroxyproline, prostoglandin E2 (PGE2), and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxy-guanosine (8-OHdG) levels were determined in skin tissue samples. Increased levels of serum cytokines were decreased with C. coggygria treatment in both periods. MPO activity, prostaglandine (PGE2), and 8-OhdG levels increased, while hydroxyproline levels decreased due to burn damage. On the other hand, these parameters were returned to its normal levels with C. coggygria treatment. In addition, the tissue histology of animals treated with C. coggygria showed a complete epithelialization with increased collagenation. Here, we investigated vitamin D and its analogue paricalcitol in silico interaction of the human PDI and inhibition of PDI reductase activity in vitro. We observed a non-covalent mechanism where the main skeleton of the vitamin D3 ans paricalcitol sturcture is located at the hydrophobic site in the b' domain of PDI and forms a hydrogen bond with a residue (His138) in tihs domain. They also form multiple weak hydrophobic interactions with various chemical groups of the b' subunit. For the first time, we demonstrate that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1a,25(OH)2 vitamin D3) and paricalcitol inhibit the PDI reductase activity in vitro and their IC50 values are 20.79±1.43 nmol/L and 32.83±3.15 nmol/L respectively. Materials and Methods: 30 Sprague Dawley rats (200-300 g) were divided into four groups: Control, control + whey, MTX, and MTX+whey. MTX was administered at 20 mg/kg (single dose) intraperitoneally to the MTX group rats, and 2 mg/kg of whey protein were administered by oral gavage for 10 days to the whey groups. Lipid peroxidation, glutathione, and nitric oxide (NO) levels, as well as glutathione-Stransferase and superoxide dismutase activities were measured in the brain and small intestine. SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of the brain and intestine tissues were also carried out. Results: While MTX treatment caused oxidative damage in the brain and small intestine, whey protein administration ameliorated MTXinduced oxidative stress. MTX administration did not change the brain's NO level, while an increase in intestinal NO level was detected. Conclusion: MTX induced oxidative stress in the brain and small intestine changed the protein metabolism in these tissues regardless of reduced food intake. Consecutive 10-day administration of whey proteins has shown its therapeutic effect on MTX-induced brain and small intestine oxidative damage.Article The Effects Of Panax Ginseng on Serum Oxidative Stress Following Bisphenol a Exposure(Istanbul Univ, 2024) Fazalyar, Najiullah; Pazarbasi, Seren Ede; Dorucu, Dogancan; Sener, Goksel; Tunali-Akbay, TugbaObjective: Bisphenol A (BPA) is a toxic compound that causes oxidative stress by disrupting antioxidant enzymes and promoting tissue lipid peroxidation. This study aimed to examine the impacts of BPA on serum oxidative stress in rats and to detect the antioxidant feature of Panax ginseng (PxG) in reducing BPA-induced oxidative stress. Materials and Methods: Wistar Albino rats (250-300 g) were divided into control, control + PxG, BPA, and BPA + PxG groups. 50 mg/kg BPA and 100 mg/g PxG were given for six weeks. Serum total antioxidant and oxidant status, lipid peroxidation, and glutathione levels were determined. Results: BPA administration increased total oxidant status and lipid peroxidation, while PxG administration to the BPA group decreased these parameters. PxG also increased total antioxidant status and glutathione levels compared to the BPA group. Conclusion: BPA was seen to cause an increase in oxidative parameters and PxG administration to restore the oxidative stress that was generated after BPA exposure, suggesting that this may help to prevent the adverse effects caused by BPA exposure.
