Article A Comparative Study of Biochemical, Antimicrobial Effects and Phytochemical Composition Analysis of Glycyrrhiza Glabra L. Varieties Root Extracts(Marmara Univ, Fac Pharmacy, 2025) Gulmez, Gizem; Sen, Ali; Servi, Huseyin; Barak, Timur Hakan; Tekin, Fetullah; Marzi, Mahdi; Sener, AzizePlants are the significant global interest as alternative treatment sources with their biologically active compounds. This study compares the chemical composition and the antioxidant, antidiabetic, and antimicrobial properties of ethanol extracts of G. glabra L. two different varieties from different regions. The phytochemical compositions was determined using GC-MS. Additionaly, total phenolic (TPC), flavonoid (TFC) and triterpene (TTC) contents were determined. Glycyrrhizic acid contents were analysed by HPLC. G. glabra var. glandulifera (GF1) showed the highest antioxidant activity. All extracts had strong antidiabetic effects, besides GF1 showing the highest effect. The MIC values was determined against 8 bacterial and 1 yeast strain and values ranged from 2.500 to 0.500; 2.500 to 0.714; 2.500 to 0.714 for G. glabra var. glabra (GB), GF1, G. glabra var. glandulifera (GF2) respectively. Phytochemical studies have shown that TPC was 100.60 +/- 5.06, 127.90 +/- 0.30, 69.01 +/- 0.30 mg GAE /g extract; TFC was 80.07 +/- 0.15, 25.35 +/- 0.0, 16.58 +/- 0.31 mg KE/g and TTC was 217.30 +/- 6.05,172.40 +/- 2.17, 126.30 +/- 4.50 mg OE/g extract for GB, GF1, GF2, respectively. GF1 in particular has the highest glycyrrhizic acid content. This study will contribute to the creation of new treatment strategies and potential therapeutic agents in addition to the use of G. glabra L. in traditional treatments. Our study is also a preliminary study for future studies.Article Accelerated Planar Development of Convex Free-Form Mesh Patches Using a Variable Step-Size Energy Dissipation Approach(Sciendo, 2025) Yavuz, Erdem; Yazici, RifatFree-form complex surfaces are prevalent in modern graphic applications. With the increasing prevalence of complex 3D surfaces enabled by advances in range scanning and 3D printing technologies, minimising parameterization times for large meshes has become crucial. This paper proposes an efficient approach for the planar development of convex free-form mesh patches using an improved energy-based technique with a variable step-size algorithm. Building upon the energy model of Wang et al., our study addresses the limitations of conventional energy dissipation algorithms, which employ fixed step sizes. The proposed variable step-size method, particularly suitable for convex or disk-shaped mesh surfaces, dynamically adjusts steps, significantly reducing energy dissipation iterations. Leveraging our previous geometric flattening method, we further enhance planar surface development using an advanced mass-spring-based approach. Here, we show that our method accelerates the mechanical flattening process while maintaining high accuracy, achieving a shape error of 0.400 and an area error of 0.147 after 36 iterations for the Surf1 patch, reducing the required iterations by nearly half compared to the fixed step-size method. This study contributes to advancing the field of surface parameterization and flattening, with potential applications in various industries.Article Citation - WoS: 3Accentuated Eccentric Load Training: Traditional Set Versus Cluster Set(Iermakov S S, 2022) Ersoz, Mehmet; Pinar, Salih; Kaya, SelmanBackground and Study Aim Material and MethodsThis study aims to comparatively analyse the effects of cluster set (CS) and traditional set (TS) applications on strength and power outputs in accentuated eccentric load (AEL) training. Thirty-two amateur male football players with at least 2 years of strength training history participated in the study (Xage: 18,78 +/- 0,83 years, Xheight:166,73 +/- 8,61 cm., Xbody weight: 69,59 +/- 6,03 kg.). Participants were randomly divided into two groups: CS (n=16) and TS (n=16). In both groups, the same "AEL Training" was applied and different set models were used. Augmented eccentric load (AEL) training was performed with 3 sets of 8 repetitions, 50% concentric and 80% eccentric of 1 Repetition Maximum (1-RM) and with a fast lifting tempo. The sets were completed with 20 seconds of rest after every two repetitions in the AEL-CS group and without any rest between repetitions in the AEL-TS group, and the training sessions were performed twice a week for 4 weeks. Countermovement jump (CMJ), 50cm drop jump-reactive strenght index (DJ-RSI) test, 1-RM strenght test, 10-20-30m sprint test and Illinois Agility Test (IAT) were performed on the athletes before and after the training.ResultsWhen analysing the data obtained in this study, Skewness and Kurtosis values and Kolmogorov-Smirnov values were examined to determine homogeneity. In order to compare the pre-test and post-test averages between groups, ANOVA was used for Repeated Measures, and Sample T Test was used to compare the pre-test and post-test averages within groups. The statistical significance level was determined as p<0.05. When the groups were compared, the difference in the improvement rate averages was tested. At the end of the four-week study, drop jump-reactive strength index (DJ-RSI), countermovement jump (CMJ), Illinois Agility Test (IAT) 10-20-30m sprint values and 1-RM values were improved percentage-wise in both AEL-CS and AEL-TS groups. Between the groups, a significant difference was observed between DJ-RSI, CMJ, and 10-20-m Sprint Test results (p<0.05). When we compare the results within groups, it can be concluded that the AEL-CS group showed more improvement in terms of strength, change of direction (COD) skills and Sprint compared to the AEL-TS group.ConclusionsIn conclusion, it can be advised to use cluster set in accentuated eccentric load training in order to improve strength, Sprint and COD skills.Article Adaptation of Caregivers' Task Scale for Multiple Sclerosis To Turkish Society: Validity and Reliability Study(Dokuz Eylul Univ inst Health Sciences, 2022) Eroglu, Nermin; Tosun, Anil TekeogluObjectives: This study was planned and carried out methodologically to adapt the Caregiving Tasks in Multiple Sclerosis Scale (CTiMSS) to Turkish society. Methods: A methodological research. The study was conducted with caregivers of individuals with multiple sclerosis who presented to the neurology clinic of a university hospital between June 2019 and September 2020. The validity and reliability study of the Caregiving Tasks in Multiple Sclerosis Scale (CTiMSS) was performed with a total of 142 individuals, which is more than 5 times the number of items on the scale (24 items). Results: The validity of the CTiMSS was evaluated with language validity, construct validity (CFA), and content validity. The reliability coefficient of the internal consistency analysis (Cronbach's Alpha) was found to be extremely high (0.97). Item-total correlation of the scale was examined, and accordingly, no items were removed from the scale. The scale was administered to 30 patients at a two-week interval to analyze test-retest reliability and time-dependent invariance. Conclusion: The CTiMSS, which was adapted to Turkish society to evaluate the tasks of individuals providing care for individuals with multiple sclerosis, is a valid and reliable tool. We recommend that it should be administered to different groups and cultures to increase its evidence value. The formal solution is obtained by the Fourier approximation. Under some natural regularity and consistency conditions on the input data,the existence, uniqueness and continuously dependence upon the data of the solution are proved by iteration method. The inverse problem is first examined by linearization and then used implicit finite difference scheme for the numerical solution. Also predictor corrector method is considered in the numerical approach. Some results on the numerical solution with two examples are presented with figures and tables. The sensitivity of the scheme with respect to noisy overdetermination data is illustrated.Article An Analysis of Psychological Resilience Levels Among Judo Coaches According to Selected Demographic Factors(Idokan Poland Association, 2025) Beşiktaş, M.Y.; Terekli, M.S.Background. Psychological resilience is a crucial personal trait that enables individuals, especially those in high-stress professions like coaching, to adapt and thrive in the face of adversity. Understanding how resilience manifests among coaches can contribute to more effective support and development strategies in sports psychology. Problem and aim. This study aims to determine whether the psychological resilience levels of judo coaches differ according to demographic variables such as age, educational background, coaching certification level, years of coaching experience, profession, and perceived economic status. Material and methods. The sample included 284 active judo coaches (58 women and 226 men) from Istanbul, Kutahya, and Eskisehir. Data were collected using the “Psychological Resilience Scale for Adults” [Friborg et al. 2003; Basim, Cetin 2011] and a “Personal Information Form.” Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS 24.0, including independent samples t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and Eta squared analysis to assess the influence of demographic actors on resilience levels. Results. The findings indicated significant differences in psychological resilience levels based on gender, marital status, age, educational attainment, coaching experience, income level, and coaching certification level. Conclusions. The results suggest that psychological resilience among judo coaches is meaningfully influenced by various demographic characteristics. These findings underscore the importance of tailoring psychological support and development programs to the specific profiles of coaches. © Yoshin AcademyArticle Citation - WoS: 2Analysis of Selected Steroid Hormones in Sea of Marmara Sediment Samples by Lc-esi/Ms-ms(Istanbul Univ, Fac Pharmacy, 2023) Aysel, Esra; Yurdun, TurkanBackground and Aims: Sediment is the general name given to the muddy structure located at the bottom of aquatic environments such as the sea. In our study, the amounts of steroid hormones were investigated in the sediment samples taken from the Marmara Sea. According to other studies, it has been determined that the excess of the hormone load in the sediments may be an indicator of human/animal sourced pollution, as well as the negative effects of the hormones mixed in the seas with the ecological cycle on the health of humans and animals.Methods: In our study, 31 selected human/animal, plant, natural and synthetic hormone-steroids were studied using Liquid Chromatography Electrospray Ionization Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS-MS). Methanol and QuEChERS were used as extraction methods. Sediment samples were taken from a total of 27 points selected for sampling at the Marmara Sea.Results: According to the results we found, the androgens: androsterone (24.50-1718.18 ng g-1), testosterone (86.30-1600.32 ng g-1); the estrogens: mestranol (33.73-228.32 ng g-1), equilin (53.44-1232.53 ng g-1); the progestagens; pregnenolone (37.50374.76 ng g-1), progesterone (39.96-405.60 ng g-1); levonorgestrel (325.25 and 937.93 ng g-1); the fecal sterols: cholestanone (57.57-1726.32 ng g-1), coprostanol + epicoprostanol (51.43-1370.33 ng g-1); and the plant sterol; campesterol (35.30-1859.90 ng g-1) were the compounds detected.Conclusion: Estrogens and progestogens are active components of birth control pills, and cholestanone and coprostanol + epicoprostanol are steroids that are indicative of human/animal pollution. Coprostanol + epicoprostanol and cholestanone, which are indicators of fecal pollution, were detected in all sediment samples. In our study, steroid hormones were detected for the first time in Sea of Marmara sediments and possible environmental risks were evaluated.Article Citation - WoS: 1An Analysis of the Gross Motor Skills of Children Aged 3-6 Years With Autism Spectrum Disorder in Comparison With Their Typically Developing Peers(Sagamore Publishing Llc, 2023) Ozcan, Gulsum Hatipoglu; Ozer, Dilara; Pinar, SalihThe aim of this study is to examine the motor skill levels of children aged 3-6 years with Autism spectrum dis-order (ASD) in comparison with their typically devel-oping (TD) peers and to reveal their needs for motor support programs. The research group consisted of 88 participants aged 3-6 years, including 43 children (40 boys and 3 girls) diagnosed with ASD attending spe-cial education and rehabilitation institutions, and 45 TD children (23 boys and 22 girls) receiving pre-school education in a private institution (ASD=57.4 months, +/- 9.32 - TD=59.06 months, +/- 8.61). The Peabody Devel-opmental Motor Scale-2 (PDMS-2) and the Turkish Ver-sion of the Gilliam Autism Rating Scale-2 (GARS-2-TV) were used as data-collection tools in the study. The Mann-Whitney U test was used for the two-group com-parisons of the parameters that did not exhibit normal distribution in the analysis of the data. The Spearman correlation analysis was applied to determine the relationship between the variables. The significance was evaluated at the p<0.05 level. As a result of the research, the balance, locomotor and manipula-tive skills and total gross motor scores of the children with ASD were found to be lower than those of the TD children (p<0.05). In addition, it was observed that there was a significant correlation between GARS-2 -TV scores and PDMS-2 scores of the children with ASD (p<0.05).Article Citation - WoS: 5Apocynin Ameliorates Testicular Toxicity in High-Fat Diet-Fed Rats by Regulating Oxidative Stress(Marmara Univ, inst Health Sciences, 2023) Hersek, Irem; Koroglu, M. Kutay; Coskunlu, Busra; Ertas, Busra; Sener, Goksel; Ercan, FerihaObjective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of apocynin (APC), an inhibitor of NADPH oxidase (NOX), on high-fat diet (HF)induced testis cytotoxicity.Methods: Wistar albino rats were divided into three groups as control, HF and HF+APC groups. Rats in HF and HF+APC groups were fed using HF for 16 weeks and in the last four weeks of this period vehicle solution or APC (25 mg/kg) was administered orally five days a week, respectively. Control group was fed with standart lab chow for 16 weeks. Cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoproteins, leptin, estrogen, testosterone, LH and FSH were estimated in blood serum. Sperm parameters were analysed from the epididymis. Testicular malondialdehyde, 8-hydroxy-2deoxyguanosine, glutathione, superoxide dismutase and myeloperoxidase levels were estimated biochemically. Testicular morphology, proliferative, apoptotic and NOX2-positive cells were analysed histologically.Results: HF-induced obesity caused significant alterations in serum lipid and hormone profiles. Testicular malondialdehyde, 8-hydroxy-2deoxyguanosine, and myeloperoxidase levels increased, glutathione and superoxide dismutase levels decreased in this group. Moreover, altered sperm parameters, increased degenerated seminiferous tubules, apoptotic and NOX2 - positive cells and decreased proliferative cells were observed in the HF group. All these biochemical and histological alterations improved in the HF+APC group.Conclusion: HF-induced obesity causes altreations in lipid values, sperm parameters and testicular morphology by increasing oxidative stress through NOX2 activity. Apocynin might prevent testis damage via regulating oxidant/antioxidant balance.Article Citation - WoS: 9Assessment of the Effectiveness of Patient Education and Interviews in Improving Medication Adherence of Renal Transplant Recipients(Springernature, 2022) Aksit, Naile; Ozbas, Ayfer; Akinci, SerkanBackground Non-compliance with immunosuppressive drugs has been reported as the most significant cause of graft loss. Since non-compliance with immunosuppressive drugs is preventable, certain approaches based on the risk factors and causes of non-compliance can help eliminate this problem. Aims The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of patient education and interviews in improving medication adherence of renal-transplant recipients. Materials and methods This study was designed as a randomized controlled trial. Using the G*Power program, the sample size was calculated as 60 subjects, with 30 in both the intervention group and control group. Data collection tools included a patient information form, a pretest-posttest, a drug monitoring form for kidney transplant patients, the Immunosuppressive Therapy Adherence Scale, measurement of tacrolimus blood levels, and a training booklet. Results The mean knowledge score in the intervention group was 12.17 +/- 3.39 at baseline, and it increased to 20.73 +/- 1.57 after the intervention. The mean scores on the Immunosuppressant Therapy Adherence Scale were 11.67 +/- 0.55 and 10.70 +/- 0.99 in the intervention group and control group, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference between the pre- test and post-test means on the Immunosuppressant Therapy Adherence Scale in the intervention group. The mean Immunosuppressant Therapy Adherence Scale score was higher in the intervention group. In the measurement of tacrolimus blood levels, medication adherence was found the be higher in the intervention group. The difference between the groups was statistically significant. There was a positive correlation between the tacrolimus blood levels and the Immunosuppressant Therapy Adherence Scale scores in both groups. Conclusions To conclude, our results have demonstrated that patient education and interviews improve immunosuppressant medication adherence in renal transplant recipients. Using direct or indirect methods proved similar outcomes, suggesting that both evaluation methods are safe.Article Avatar: a Film at the Center of the Feminine Other(Univ Pittsburgh, Univ Library System, 2025) Dereboyu, Pelin Guregen; Guzel, Ebru; Olaru, Gabriela Oana; Ayberk, ErhanThis study analyzes James Cameron's 2009 film Avatar from the perspective of the feminine other through deconstruction. In the movie, nature and the Na'vi people are depicted as feminine, while modern man and the science, technology, and military power he represents are portrayed as masculine. Although it critiques the colonialist structure of modernity, the film's narrative structure and character portrayals indicate that it reproduces the superiority of Western-centered ideology and the masculine mind. The study analyzes how the film's narrative and character representations implicitly support masculine centrism. The analysis reveals how nature and marginalized cultures are romanticized and presented in the film and how the notion that the feminine can only survive by adopting masculine traits is processed in the subtext. Grounded in a conceptual and theoretical framework, this research focuses on the sustainability of the patriarchal capitalist system and gender politics while critically examining how cinema reconstructs ideological structures through the narratives in the film.Article Biopsychosocial-Based Exercise Model for Rheumatic Diseases Via Telerehabilitation: a Case Series With a One Year Follow Up(Nova Southeastern Univ, 2025) Nacar, Nazli Elif; Karaca, Nur Banu; Bulut, Zeynep Irem; Sari, Erkin Oguz; Bulut, SenemPurpose: This study aims to examine the sustainability of the biopsychosocial exercise performed by telerehabilitation on individuals with rheumatic disease, with and without supervision, and investigate the effect of the biopsychosocial-based exercise model on biopsychosocial status, general health status, and anxiety-depression levels of individuals. Method: Twenty patients with rheumatic diseases performed a biopsychosocial-based exercise model Cognitive Exercise Therapy Approach via telerehabilitation with physiotherapist-supervised and unsupervised exercises who continued for three sessions per week for 12 months. Outcome measures were Health Assessment Questionnaire, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and Cognitive Exercise Therapy Approach-Biopsychosocial Questionnaire. Patients were assessed at baseline, 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th months. Results: There was no significant difference by time for Health Assessment Questionnaire (p=0.512) and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale-anxiety and depression scores (p=0.162 and p=0.825, respectively) between the five measures at the one-year followup. Similarly, there is no significant difference in Cognitive Exercise Therapy Approach-Biopsychosocial Questionnaire score outcomes by time (p=0.184). Conclusion: In this study a group of rheumatic patients with face-to-face biopsychosocial exercise habits were able to maintain their exercise habits with realtime telerehabilitation with or without supervised during the 1-year follow-up period during the COVID-19 pandemic was shown. Although there was no improvement in the parameters during the pandemic period when social isolation and depression-anxiety disorders increased, the level of recovery which individuals had previously gained was not adversely affected and the healing properties were preserved with the help of telerehabilitation.Article Burn Rehabilitation: Evaluation of Physiotherapists' Knowledge and Awareness Levels(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2025) Seyyah, Mine; Akkurt, Mustafa Ferit; Yilmaz, NergisObjective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of knowledge and awareness of physiotherapists working in Turkey about burn rehabilitation. Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted between March and June 2025 and data were collected using Google Form. A total of 324 people were included in the study. The level of knowledge and awareness of the participants about burn rehabilitation was evaluated with 28 questions created by taking expert opinion. Results: While 25.6 % of participants had experience in burn rehabilitation, only 1.2 % frequently encountered burn patients. Although 60.5 % had taken courses on burn rehabilitation, only 15.1 % considered their knowledge sufficient. Correct response rates to key knowledge questions were 78.7 % for exercise applicability, 79.6 % for timing, 54.6 % for the most common burn type in Turkey, 35.8 % for edema management, and 13 % for pressure garment duration, revealing gaps in clinical knowledge. Additionally, 92.9 % believed early physiotherapy improves recovery, and 98.4 % reported positive effects on quality of life. Discussion: Our results indicate that although most physiotherapists had taken courses on burn rehabilitation, their knowledge remains insufficient, whereas their awareness is high, underscoring the need for targeted training and certification programs.Article Citation - WoS: 1Chatgpt as a Solution To Emotional Loneliness: a New Tool for Interpersonal Communication(Marmara Univ, Fac Communication, 2024) Sarioglu, Elif Basak; Guregen, Esra PelinLoneliness stands as one of the most pervasive and universal health issues in contemporary society. This study, conducted within the scope of emotional loneliness, delves into the nuances of loneliness, understanding its origin and how it manifests in individuals. In the research where students from the Faculty of Communication of a foundation university in Istanbul were chosen as the sample, the data collected through in-depth interviews, a qualitative data collection tool, were analyzed using content analysis method. This phenomenological research design aimed to assess participants' attitudes toward utilizing a chatbot (ChatGPT) as a tool to combat emotional loneliness. Despite their generally positive disposition and strong tendency to anthropomorphize, participants were found to approach the use of ChatGPT with caution. The majority harbored negative judgments about ChatGPT and technological tools meeting emotional and social needs. However, a significant portion believes that the widespread adoption of ChatGPT and similar tools for socialization is imminent in the near future. Concerns predominantly revolve around mistrust in artificial intelligence technologies' ability to meet emotional needs and the potential harms they could inflict on socio-cultural life, with ethical issues forming another major theme. Notably, when expressing their apprehensions, participants frequently referenced artificial intelligence representations in popular culture, such as films, series, and games.Article Comprehensive Bibliometric Analysis of Characteristics, Patterns, and Causes of Retractions in Pediatric Literature(Springer, 2025) Abo-Elnour, Dina Essam; Helal, Mohamed Mohsen; Albalasy, Abdulrahman Ahmed; Abdul-Hafez, Hamza A.; Abdelkader, Ahmed; El-Sherbini, Eman Raafat; Amer, Samar A.This study aimed to systematically identify the key characteristics of retracted articles in pediatric literature and explore the patterns and reasons of pediatric retraction from 1995 to 2024. We searched PubMed and Retraction Watch databases to identify all retracted publications in the field of pediatrics. After the screening process, data were extracted into Excel. Statistical analysis was conducted using Jamovi and Excel. A correlation matrix was used for the important retraction-related factors. After screening, 590 unique retracted pediatric articles were included, with most of them, 572 (96.9%), having retraction notices available; 516 (87.5%) published as open access; 433 (73.4%) from Asia-mostly China; 348 (59%) retracted by the publisher; 301 (51.0%) published by Hindawi; 275 (46.6%) observational studies; and 221 (37.5%) retracted due to misconduct. Articles with four authors showed the highest retraction rate, and the retraction rate generally decreased as the number of authors increased. Most retractions occurred in 2023. The most common pediatric age group included in the retracted papers was children. The median H-index of authors of retracted papers was 8 for first authors and 10 for senior authors. The median time from submission to acceptance of retracted papers was 50 days and that from publication to retraction was 15 months. Additionally, time to retraction was positively correlated with the journal's impact factor (r = 0.106, p = 0.015) and the citation count (r = 0.213, p < 0.001) but showed no significant correlation with time to acceptance (r = - 0.019, p = 0.675). Conclusion: The increasing number of retracted pediatric papers reflects a growing concern with a complex pattern and various determinants. Researchers and publishers should adopt strong regulations and guidelines to improve the integrity of scientific research, especially pediatric research.Article Citation - WoS: 3Data Mining the City: User Demands Through Social Media(Konya Technical Univ, Fac Architecture & design, 2021) Cakir, Hulya Soydas; Levent, Vecdi EmrePurpose Information technologies are commonly used in architectural and urban design. The use of these technologies providing support at every stage of the design opens up different perspectives for designers and users. The aim of the study is to obtain user demands for green spaces of a specific district by mining data through social media and to detect the actual green spaces of the same district using applications developed for this purpose. User demands for design decisions and applications of green spaces and the current situation of the study area are evaluated. Design/Methodology/Approach The research is firstly realized through social media, and data obtained from Twitter is analysed in order to evaluate user demands for parks and green spaces of Atasehir district in Istanbul City. Secondly, all green areas in the same district are detected by using digital maps. Two applications are specifically designed for this research; Tweet Grabber is used for user sentiment analysis on social media and Map Grabber is processed for extraction of green spaces via maps. The total area of the green spaces is compared with the desired area of open and green spaces per user. Findings The user demands and thoughts obtained in the study about the green spaces of the district are compatible with the actual situation of green spaces. It is observed that the users are mostly dissatisfied with the adequacy of green spaces. Designers, politicians, municipalities and all stakeholders can benefit from the obtained user expectations and feedback. Interpreting user demands by mining data through social media enables user participation in design decisions. This research method can be supportive and adaptive in related issues of design for the cities, enabling user participation in architectural and urban design. Research Limitations/Implications Parks and green spaces of Atasehir district of Istanbul are taken as a case study. Twitter is chosen for mining of data in social media based on parameters such as keywords and location. Social/Practical Implications The impact and support of users in design decisions can be clearly demonstrated by advanced information technologies. Mining data through social media and developed applications will contribute to design decisions and policies for architectural and urban spaces. Our system consists of two main components. The first one is tactile stimulator, which was designed to stimulate index and middle finger tips, stimulating mechanoreceptors according to the test protocol. Second one is a personal computer running a desktop software for the implementation of test protocols. The flow is as follows; the subjects are asked the question of the test protocol through the personal computer. The parameters are then transmitted to the embedded board on the machine. The embedded board drives step motors to apply the relevant test parameters. The desktop software expects the individual to answer the question using the right or the left mouse button of the computer mouse. After answering the relevant question, the test proceeds to the next step. According to the test protocol, the stimulation process of the mechanoreceptors located at the index and middle finger tips must start and terminate at the same time. From this perspective, the embedded board with 3 18F46K22 PIC microcontrollers produces 2 square wave signals with different frequencies and amplitudes at the same time. The embedded system card developed with the PIC microcontroller is also developed with FPGA. The methods and thought approaches that can be followed in this process are always among the issues questioned. With the study, this issue is approached through digital stories. The fact that digital storytelling, which is a lot of research in terms of its contributions in education-related fields, hasn't yet taken place sufficiently in the field of design education constitutes the starting point of the study. So, the study created with qualitative research method aims to raise awareness of the space design education literature on digital storytelling. In order to gain this awareness, the similarities and differences of the digital storytelling and design process has analyzed. The study determined that the design process and digital storytelling intersect with aspects of making implicit information visible, occurring in line with a problem or starting point, and including similar process stages. However, differences exist between these two concepts. This result provides a theoretical framework for those who want to benefit from digital storytelling.Article Determination of Post-Earthquake Trauma Level and Investigation of the Relationship with Physical Activity Status(Turkish Physiotherapy Association, 2025) Tosun, Anil; Yılmaz, Nergis; Luque, Demet Tekın De Las PenasAmaç: Çalışmanın amacı; 06 Şubat 2023’te meydana gelen Pazarcık-Elbistan merkezli depremler sebebiyle kişilerde oluşan travma düzeyinin, kişinin fiziksel aktivite durumu ile ilişkisini incelemektir. Aynı zamanda, kişilerde deprem sonrası ağrı varlığının sorgulanması ve bu durumun travma düzeyi ile ilişkisini ortaya koymaktır. Yöntem: Veriler çevrimiçi olarak Google formları aracılığıyla toplandı, 18-65 yaş arası 388 gönüllü katılımcı (299 kadın, 89 erkek) çalışmaya dahil edildi. Katılımcıların genel özelliklerini belirlemek için “Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu”, travma düzeyini değerlendirmek için “Deprem Sonrası Travma Düzeyini Belirleme Ölçeği” (DSTDBÖ) ve fiziksel aktivite durumlarını belirlemek için “Uluslararası Fiziksel Aktivite Anketi Kısa Formu” (IPAQ-KF) kullanıldı. Bulgular: Deprem bölgesinde bulunma durumuna göre DSTDBÖ genel puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı fark saptandı (p<0,001). Deprem bölgesinde bulunan 126 kişinin DSTDBÖ genel puan ortalaması 57,66±19,87 iken, bölgede bulunmayan 262 kişinin ortalaması 49,00±18,49 olarak bulundu. Spearman korelasyon analiziyle deprem bölgesinde olan ve olmayan bireylerin IPAQ-KF toplam puanları, DSTDBÖ alt faktör ve toplam puanları arasındaki ilişki incelenmiş olup sadece “Bilişsel Yapılandırma” alt faktörü ile IPAQ-KF toplam puanları arasında anlamlı bir ilişkiyi yansıtmayan negatif zayıf ilişki bulundu (deprem bölgesinde olanlar için Spearman korelasyon katsayı değeri =-0,18, p=0,042). Ve deprem sonrası ağrı yaşayan bireylerin DSTDBÖ puanları, ağrı yaşamayanlardan daha yüksek olarak saptandı (p=0,000). Sonuç: Bu çalışma ile deprem sonrası travma düzeyinin, fiziksel aktivite ile negatif ilişki gösterdiği belirlendi. İnaktif bireyler daha yüksek travma düzeylerine sahipken, minimal aktif bireylerde travma düzeyleri daha düşük bulundu. Bu bulgular, deprem sonrası fiziksel aktivitenin artırılmasının travma düzeylerini azaltmada etkili bir strateji olabileceğini göstermektedir. Methods: This study was conducted as a posttest randomized controlled experimental research. The data was collected at G & ouml;ztepe Training and Research Hospital between January and November 2020. While the positive pressure suction method was applied to the experimental group, the negative pressure suction method was applied to the control group. Results: It is determined that the pain level mean scores at the 1 st and 5 th minutes after the suction procedure are lower in the experimental group than in the control group (p=0.01). p =0.01). SpO2 values at the 1st, st , 5th, th , and 15th th minutes after the procedure are significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group (p=0.01). p =0.01). There is no statistically significant difference in the respiratory rate values between experimental and control groups (p>0.05). p >0.05). Conclusion: It is determined that the post-procedure pain level is lower and the SpO2 value is higher in the experimental group (positive pressure suction) compared to the control group (negative pressure suction). Both methods do not cause mucosal irritation, as well.
