CPS integrates the cyber (IT) and the physical world (OT) through the hierarchical layers of ISA-95 model and forms the backbone of Industry 4.0. The CPS plays a crucial role in transforming data from interconnected systems, and it is a pre-requisite for the entire system to be able to interact. The ISA-95 model consists of components that can be used to determine how the interaction between domains vertically within the facility. However, the current ISA-95 Model does not include all the components that need to be integrated in vertical integration of all domains. The product domain is one of them. All IT and OT components need to be represented in the ISA-95 layers to achieve an ideal CPS structure. In this study, all components needed to achieve the ideal CPS structure have been identified in an expanded ISA-95 Model for project-based manufacturers. An extended ISA-95 model is proposed so that each manufacturing industry can use it in the digital transformation process by adding a product domain and connectivity layer to the Model. The Model was tested and confirmed, by conducting a case study which was based on implementing the vertical integration on it. This model helps businesses to develop more effective digital transformation strategies by defining where they should focus on or from where they should start the digital transformation processes.Article Citation - WoS: 9Citation - Scopus: 7Investigation of Land Cover (lc)/Land Use (lu) Change Affecting Forest and Seminatural Ecosystems in Istanbul (turkey) Metropolitan Area Between 1990 and 2018(Springer, 2023) Bozkurt, Selvinaz Gulcin; Kusak, Lutfiye; Akkemik, UnalThis study was conducted to examine the land cover (LC)/land use (LU) change affecting forest and seminatural ecosystems and the spatio-temporal development of urban expansion between 1990 and 2018 in the city of Istanbul, where urbanization is the most intense in Turkey. For this purpose, using Corine Land Cover (1990, 2000, 2006, 2012, and 2018) dataset, the land cover of the area was determined in 5 different classes (artificial surface, agriculture, forest, water bodies, water), maps were produced, and tabular data were created. The changes in LC/LU between 1990 and 2018 were determined according to the Puyravaud land cover change rate and hot spot analysis methods. According to our findings, we determined that urbanization in Istanbul expanded the most in the east-west direction, and the agricultural and forest areas gradually decreased by 3.02% and 6.66% respectively; urban areas increased at the same rate of 9.69%. It is predicted that this change will continue increasing until 2030 when the forecasting method is applied in the field. It has been determined that the most important reasons for this situation are local government policies, population growth, and economic development initiatives applied in the area. As a result, it has emerged that measures should be taken based on sustainability and naturalness approaches to design urban development plans and to protect natural areas on a large scale, in order to limit possible LC/LU conversion from natural structure to urbanization in the area.Book Part Evaluation of Labor Market Issues in Sport and Exercise Environment in Turkey(Taylor and Francis, 2021) Ersöz, G.Article Does Prolotherapy Have an Effect on the Care of Pressure Injuries? a Pilot Study(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2025) Eroglu, Nermin; Kokkiz, Rukiye; Eroglu, Hatice Eda; Kocoglu, HasanBackground: This study contributes to wound healing with prolotherapy in people with pressure injuries. The study was planned and conducted as a randomized controlled trial to determine the effect of prolotherapy on the care of pressure injuries. Methods: The study was carried out with patients with pressure injuries in the intensive care unit of a city hospital between April and June 2023. A power analysis was performed, and the sample size was calculated as 20 patients, including 10 in the intervention and 10 in the control group. The patients in the experimental group were given wound care with gelofusine as prolotherapy in the morning and evening for three days, and the injury site was covered with a sterile sponge and fixation tape. The patients in the control group were treated with saline in the morning and evening for three days. In both groups, the wound width, depth, and length were measured and evaluated prior to each intervention for three days. Results: In the study, a significant difference was found between the mean ages of the participants in the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05). The decrease in width measurements in the experimental group was found to be statistically significant compared to the previous measurements, while the increase in width measurements in the control group was significant compared to the previous measurements (p < 0.05). Depth measurements decreased statistically significantly in the experimental group, while they increased significantly in the control group compared to previous measurement values (p < 0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, it was determined that the administration of gelofusine for pressure injuries as prolotherapy in the experimental group may be more effective in wound healing than saline treatment applied in the control group. This international SP simulation study explored nursing students' beliefs toward persons with mental health conditions in the United States (US) and Turkey before and after participating in a mental health standardized patient simulation. Methods: A quasi-experimental study design was used in two settings in two countries. Measures included a socio-demographic survey and the Beliefs toward Mental Illness scale. Results were analyzed using paired sample t-test, independent t-test, and chi-square tests. Results: Students in the US had significantly lessened negative attitudes toward persons with mental health conditions when compared to the Turkey group. Conclusion: SP simulation may offer opportunities to improve nursing students' beliefs toward persons with mental health conditions.Book Part Citation - Scopus: 1Where Are We and What Should We Do in Cleaner Production Transformation(IGI Global, 2023) Büyükselçuk, E.Ç.Until recently, production models developed according to market conditions focused on reducing costs and increasing profitability at the expense of the destruction of natural resources and the deterioration of ecological balance and human health. However, today, with the effects of the deterioration in the ecosystem reaching sensible dimensions and being accepted as a global threat, a new production approach is needed. Due to environmental pressures, new markets and scarce resources, development, and economic growth are being tried to be redefined. Traditional production methods and environmental technologies are no longer sufficient to provide resource efficiency and increase environmental performance. Therefore, the need for new systems, processes and technologies has arisen for the restructuring of the industry and the creation of green business models. Encountering uncertainty and managing imprecise information are fundamental aspects of KM that cannot be avoided. In this context, sustainable KM aims to solve these issues and address prioritizing the long-term sustainability and efficiency of knowledge-related processes within an organization. The aim of this study is to structure a sustainable KM concept for organizations and identify the most common critical success factors (CSFs) with a novel analytical approach. In this context, the Interval-Valued Neutrosophic methodology, which is one of the multi-criteria decision methods (MCDMs), was adopted to evaluate and weight the determined CSFs. Four main headings-KM, environmental, economical, and social criteria-are evaluated along with their subfactors. Our findings show that KM is found to be the most important, and environmental factors followed KM. As work-related musculoskeletal disorders represent an increasingly important issue for occupational therapists, this study determined musculoskeletal disorders among occupational therapists in Turkey. A total of 238 occupational therapists participated and completed the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. As a result, 73.1% of participants reported experiencing neck pain and 72.3% reported experiencing low back pain at 12 months. Statistically significant differences were found between participants with and without work-related musculoskeletal disorders regarding gender, experience, workplace type, treatment, and daily working hours (p < 0.05). HarmanciPurpose: To examine the validity and reliability of the Thanatophobia Scale-Turkish Form among nurses. Design and methods: This methodological study included 154 nurses. Content and construct validity, item analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and internal consistency were used to evaluate the data. Findings: The content validity index of the scale was 0.91. Item-total score correlation values varied between 0.453 and 0.718. As a result of the confirmatory factor analyses, one factor was confirmed. Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient was 0.854. Health professionals of the future should be conscious, e-health literate and develop HLBs. The aims of this study were to determine the EHL and HLBs of university students receiving health education and to examine the relationship between them. Design/methodology/approach: A total of 1,454 health sciences students, between the ages of 18–27, were included in the study. Participants' data were collected online via Google Forms. Participants' EHL levels were assessed with the E-Health Literacy Scale. Participants' HLB were assessed with the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviours Scale II. Findings: Positive weak correlation was found between EHL and HLB (p < 0.001, r = 0.329). EHL scores of bachelor’s degree students were higher than associate degree students (p = 0.004). HBL total score bachelor’s and associate degree student scores were similar (p = 0.714). Originality/value: This article addresses an important gap in understanding health sciences students' online reading habits about health and their relationship to HLB. Considering that there is a positive relationship between EHL and HLBs of students in the health departments of universities, increasing the EHL levels of students will help to increase HLBs. © 2025, Emerald Publishing Limited.Article Effects of an Adapted Dance Exercise Program on Trunk Control, Balance and Functional Mobility in Children and Adolescents with Cerebral Palsy: Randomized Controlled Study(Taylor & Francis inc, 2025) Yekdaneh, Asena; Arman, NilayAims: The study aimed to investigate whether an 8-week adapted dance exercise program (ADEP), delivered in addition to conventional physiotherapy, would improve trunk control, balance, functional mobility, and quality of life (QoL) in children and adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP) compared with conventional physiotherapy alone. Methods: Thirty participants with CP (Gross Motor Function Classification System Level I - II) were randomly assigned to the ADEP group (n = 15) or the control group (n = 15). Both groups received conventional physiotherapy, while the ADEP group additionally performed physiotherapist-choreographed dance exercises accompanied by music, twice a week for 8 weeks. Outcomes included the Trunk Control Measurement Scale (TCMS) for trunk control, the Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS) for balance, the Timed Up and Go (TUG) for functional mobility, and the Pediatric Outcomes Data Collection Instrument (PODCI) for QoL. Results: The ADEP group showed significantly greater improvements than the control group in TCMS-Total (Delta = 10.53 vs 3.50, p < .001), TCMS-selective motor control (Delta = 6.00 vs 1.42, p < .001), TCMS-dynamic sitting balance (Delta = 7.53 vs 2.28, p < .001), and PODCI-Global scores (Delta = 4.61 vs -1.71, p < .001). Both groups improved in PBS and TUG, but between-group differences were not significant. Effect sizes indicated large improvements in trunk control in favor of the ADEP group. Conclusions: An 8-week ADEP program, when combined with conventional physiotherapy, produced clinically meaningful gains in trunk control and QoL in children and adolescents with CP. We estimated that effective home care given with a multidisciplinary approach would contribute to decreasing symptoms and readmissions to the hospital after cardiac surgery.STUDY DESIGN: This experimental study with a 6-week follow-up period and a 2-group repeated measures design with pretest, posttest, and interval tests was conducted in a public hospital in Turkey in 2016.METHODS: We identified the self-efficacy levels, symptoms, and readmissions to the hospital of 60 patients (30 in the experimental group and 30 in the control group) throughout the data collection process, and we estimated the effect of home care on self-efficacy, symptom management, and hospital readmissions by comparing the data of patients in the experimental and control groups. Each patient in the experimental group received 7 home visits along with 24/7 telephone counseling services throughout the first 6 weeks after discharge, and patients were provided physical care, training, and counseling services during these home visits with the collaboration of their physician.RESULTS: Home care resulted in better self-efficacy and fewer symptoms in the experimental group (P < .05), and it also reduced readmissions to the hospital in the experimental group (23.3%) compared with the control group (46.7%).CONCLUSIONS: This study's findings suggest that home care, with a focus on continuity of care, decreases symptoms and readmissions to the hospital and improves the self-efficacy of patients after cardiac surgery.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 6Hepatoprotective Effects of Parsley (petroselinum Crispum) Extract in Rats With Bile Duct Ligation(Elsevier, 2023) Ede, Seren; Özbeyli, Dilek; Erdogn, Omer; Cevik, Ozge; Kanpalta, Fatma; Ercan, Feriha; Senerg, GokselBackground and study aims: This study aimed to investigate the possible protective effects of parsley extract (Petroselinum Crispum; PC) against oxidative liver damage caused by bile obstruction in rats. Material and methods: Bile duct ligation (BDL) method was used to induce liver injury in rats. The rats were divided into the three groups each consisting of 8 rats; Sham-operated control (C), bile duct ligated + saline treated (BDL), and BDL + PC treated groups. PC extract was given at a dose of 2 g/kg orally for 28 days. Aspartate amino transferase (AST), alanin amino transferase (ALT), and bilirubin levels were analyzed in sera. In order to determine free radicals in liver injury, luminol and lucigenin chemiluminescence tests used. Oxidative stress was evaluated through superoxide dismutase, glutathione, malondialdehyde, Na+/K+-ATPase and 8-hydroxy guanosine levels. Furthermore, inflammation marker myeloperoxidase, apoptosis marker caspase-3, and fibrosis markers TGF- beta and hydoxyproline were investigated. The liver tissues were also examined for histological evaluations.Results: While PC treatment decreased AST and ALT levels which increased with BDL, oxidant damage parameters also decreased with this treatment. Conclusion: The present study, which is the first research for PC extract on cholestasis induced liver damage, demonstrated that PC extract could be a potential therapeutic agent against liver fibrosis and need further studies.Article Citation - Scopus: 4Effects of Computer-Based Balance Exercises on Balance, Pain, Clinical Presentation and Nerve Function in Patients With Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy: a Randomized Controlled Study(International Society of Musculoskeletal and Neuronal Interactions, 2024) Reyhanıoglu, D.A.; Yıldırım, G.; Sengun, I.Ş.; Kara, B.Objective:To evaluate the use of a computer-based biodex balance exercise system (BBS) on balance, neuropathic pain, clinical presentation and nerve function in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Methods: A total of 32 participants with DPN were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to an intervention group (IG) or control group (CG). The IG performed exercises using the BBS twice weekly for 8 weeks, while CG were informed regarding diabetes self-management. At baseline and after study completion, participants underwent balance (postural stability and fall risk) and neuropathic pain assessment (DN4 questionnaire) and were screened using the Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument and nerve conduction test. Results: Among the baseline participants, 14 in the IG and 13 in the CG completed the study. Balance training improved postural stability (overall, p<0.001), fall risk (p<0.001), neuropathic pain (p=0.01) and symptoms (p<0.001), and clinical presentation (p=0.02), but not nerve function, within the IG. At follow-up, IG displayed significantly improved stability (p<0.001) and fall risk (p=0.02) and decreased neuropathic symptoms (p=0.01) compared to the CG. Conclusion: Computer-based balance exercises improve balance, pain, and clinical presentation of DPN, but not nerve function, in patients with DPN. GunizIn the present study, a range of novel thiosemicarbazides 4a-i and 1,2,4-triazoles 5a-i derived from ibuprofen, were synthesized. Structural elucidation of these synthesized compounds was performed utilizing a variety of spectroscopic methods, including FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HR-MS. The synthesized compounds were tested for cytotoxicity in five different cancer cell lines (cervical cancer (HeLa), human breast cancer (MCF-7), human gastric adenocarcinoma (MKN-45), human metastatic prostate cancer (PC3) and human glioblastoma (U87)). The compounds were compared with healthy cells (NIH-3T3) and the most effective compounds were determined by means of the selectivity index. Thiosemicarbazides derived form ibuprofen 4i and 4d showed anticancer activity, while 1,2,4-triazoles derived form ibuprofen 5b, 5c, 5d, 5e, 5h, 5g showed anticancer activity in HeLa, MCF-7, MKN-45, PC3 and U87 cells. To test the stability of the protein-drug complexes all 18 compounds 4a-i and 5a-i were docked into the active site of the MetAP2 enzyme In general, computational inhibition constants values were correlated with the experimental values. The dynamic behavior of MetAP2-inhibitor complexes was analyzed using all atoms Molecular Dynamic (MD) simulations for 200 ns duration. MD revealed that the drugs bind in the active center of MetAP2 with stable RMSD and RMSF. In conclusion, in-silico results and in-vitro studies suggests that thiosemicarbazides and 1,2,4-triazoles derived from ibuprofen may be novel anticancer drug candidates for treating cervical, breast, prostate, gastric and glioblastoma. Compounds provided induction of apoptotic proteins in the cell by inhibiting MetAP2 enzyme. Furthermore, the potential antioxidant activities of the compounds were evaluated using the 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity assay. Among the compounds tested, 4a, 4b, 4e, 4f, 4h, and 4i exhibited values closely resembling the DPPH activity of the standards.Article Investigation of Vocal Fatigue, Anxiety Level, and Perceived Communication Skills According To the Purpose of Mask Use During the Pandemic(Elsevier Inc., 2025) Işık, E.E.; Paltura, C.; Develioğlu, Ö.N.Objective: The use of face masks during COVID-19 causes communication difficulties. Determining the effects of face masks can provide precautions against possible voice problems. The aim of the study is to determine the difference between vocal fatigue and anxiety levels depending on the use of masks in basic and basic-professional activities. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in a descriptive and cross-sectional design. Data were collected between March and May 2021. The study included 476 people aged 18-65 years. Participants were divided into two groups according to the purpose of mask use; “wearing masks only for essential activities” group (EA) and “wearing masks for essential-professional activities” group (EPA). Vocal Fatigue Index (VFI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and Self-Assessment Questions were used in the study. All scales and subjective evaluation questions were transferred to Google Forms. The link was sent to participants living in Turkey with a letter of consent. Results: VFI-Factor 1, VFI-Factor 2, VFI-Factor 3, VFI Total, and BAI scores differed statistically significantly between the groups. VFI and BAI scores of the EPA group were found to be higher. There was a correlation between all factors of VFI and BAI scores. According to the results of regression analysis, it was found that the purpose of mask use and BAI score increased the VFI score. When the EPA group was masked, their results on respiratory control abilities, auditory perception, and speech intelligibility were shown to be lower. Conclusion: Regardless of the purpose of use, face masks have been found to reduce speech intelligibility, auditory feedback, and the ability to maintain breath control while speaking. GunizThe discovery of new antimicrobial molecules is crucial for combating drug-resistant bacterial and fungal infections that pose a dangerous threat to human health. In the current research, we applied a molecular hybridization approach to synthesize original thiosemicarbazide-triazole derivatives starting from (S)-naproxen (7a-7k). After structural characterization using FT-IR, H-1-NMR, C-13-NMR, and HR-MS, the obtained compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Candida albicans ATCC 10231 and their isolates, as well. Although all compounds were found to be moderate antimicrobial agents, in general, their antibacterial activities were better than antifungal effects. Among the tested compounds, 7j carrying nitrophenyl group on the thiosemicarbazide functionality represented the best MIC value against S. aureus isolate. Finally, molecular docking studies were performed in the active pocket of S. aureus flavohemoglobin to rationalize the obtained biological data.Article Relationship of Handwriting Skills With Cognitive Functions and Sensory Processing in the Older Adults(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2025) Sirma, Gamze Cagla; Yucel, HulyaAims: Handwriting involves complex processes, including cognitive function and sensory processing. Cognitive function and sensory processing change with aging. However, the relationship between these parameters remains unclear. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between cognitive function and sensory processing with handwriting skills in the older adults. Methods: Fifty-six community-dwelling individuals aged 65-75 years completed a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and handwriting tasks. Results: The mean age was 70.62 +/- 3.49 years. The strongest correlations were observed between MoCA and the handwriting subtest. Low registration, sensory sensitivity, and sensation avoiding were positively correlated with handwriting subtests. Moreover, the results showed that these skills were also predictive of older adults' handwriting skills (p < 0.05).
